EDIT: "BON JOVI The Distance (2002 Japanese only 3-track CD single includes Single Edit, Everyday [Demo] and Joey [Demo]. Unique band picture sleeve plus obi-strip advertising the famous Asahi 'Dry' beer mini advert - this track was used in the TV advert in Japan and hence not released as a single anywhere else! Cool - that sounds vaguely familiar but it sure didn't stick in my memory. Thanks

They also played in Kobe two days earlier and I think that The Distance was done there as well, but I'm not sure. Gotta check the bootleg.
What's interesting is that Richie played the melody instead of the power chords like on the Bounce tour.

He also did that when he brought it back a few years ago. Always thought that was weird.

EDIT: You're right, they did it the show before too. Opened that one with Who Says and opened this show with a cover of I want you to want me. Interesting!

Yes - that is correct. The Distance was played there too but it does sound weird.

Since it wasn't in the VH-1 HD broadcast, it often got forgotten. But I really liked that Unplugged performance of Any Other Day:

I've always labeled 2005 to be that last youthful fun energetic era for Jon Bon Jovi at age 43... Once Lost Highway hit, something was lost (no pun) and things started slowing down and got much more rehearsed and staged.

I was at this show in 2005. Its kinda hard to explain the set-up but I was on the floor, in the back. There was a divider and I was one step up. So basically I had first section, front row tickets but it was almost level to the floor. It was elevated by one step...This was a time when YouTube and SmartPhones weren't a major thing yet or I would have captured an awesome moment... It's amazing that someone else got it... The lights go down, the intro to Last Man Standing starts, I hear Jon singing but he's not on stage. His platform is 20 feet away right in my section. As he's making his way to the stage, he's high fiving everyone and I slapped his back. The guy was solid as a rock. All muscle. Not an ounce of fat on him.

(Check out both videos - LMS and Raise Your Hands - Talk about energy. I really posted this for RYH but got caught up in that memory)

I don't know.. back in 2010/2011 he was still pretty energetic and was working the stage quite well for his age at the time. If he has really slowed down since after 2005/2006 it might be because he just suddenly got older? By the next big tour in 2008 Jon had stopped styling his hair like back in the HAND era which made him look more young and youthful. Or it just might be because of the death of Richie's dad. As far as I Remeber, the guys heard about it only hours before one of the UK shows in 2006 and at first, they didn't even want to do the show, i think.

It's not just about the energy... The shows seemed much more formulated and staged in 2010 / 2011... And Jon didnt look youthful to me anymore... Not saying that he didn't look good for his age at that time or the shows weren't good but he just didn't have that youthfulness... Watch the entire Raise Your Hands from 2005... The way he's interacting with Richie, he's doing leg stretches on the railing... The songs were so much faster... Listen to Not Fade Away in 2010. It'll put you to sleep...
