I'd be surprised too, except this board's need to constantly debate everything.
Jon does this often, it's schtick, like some of the other stuff he does. If you ask him in an everyday moment what he thinks of these people, he won't bash them or call them out, but on stage where he "shows off", here come the soundbites. He had a 'I may not be as young as Justin Timberlake, but..' bit going on too.
Anyway I don't dislike Gaga, in fact I think some of her songs are quite good, in the sense that they are insanely catchy, a cut above the pop songs that aren't even catchy, of which there is quite a lot actually.
I do kinda find it annoying that the stock defense of her fans is "You should see her play the piano". Yeah, well she doesn't do that very often, does she? If she did, her new video wouldn't be 4 minutes of her 'getting born', and then 4 more of dancing around with 50 backup dancers to bleeps and beats. THAT kind of thing is 'more of the same'. You'd think that if the kiddies have an attention span to sit through that, they could sit through some extended piano too. But no, the 'fashionista' part of her image is too important for that. As such, I can't blame someone taking a swipe at her.
And she might be a good songwriter, maybe there is an actual good song hiding behind the repetitively braindead simplicity of Just Dance, but since the 3 other people she collaborates with drowned the song in overproduction, we'll just never know. That is 'more of the same' too.
And yeah I know this is painfully off topic.
