This song comes over really well live. It's a show highlight in my opinion. I liked the arena version even better than the stadium version - it was longer.

I agree. I enjoyed the longer version but inserting the song in that slot in the set prevented the mass exodus that occurs just by introducing Richie. People actually stayed in their seats and were pleasantly surprised to hear Richie do LYHOM. KTF effectively took it's place to close the main set especially with the fireworks.

milomom 06-03-2010 12:24 AM

I'm just glad that they found a place for LTOR in the stadium show rather than dropping it when they wanted to rock the end of the main set with KTF and fireworks. As others have said, it worked well before Richie's slot. The first night at the Meadowlands, they did a longer version when Jon went out onto the circle. It was shorter the other 2 nights when he didn't do that. I'm with Kathleen - I like the long version.

Crushgen24/88 06-03-2010 01:15 AM

I loved the longer version from Night 1, and I love what it does for Richie.

Butters 06-03-2010 01:34 AM

This is an excellent quality video of Dry County from night 3 at the Meadowlands. What a performance!

mrleaf 06-03-2010 01:36 AM

Brilliant, hope they keep it in the set for O2.

sambos apprentice 06-03-2010 03:20 AM

Auto-tuning is the most horrid and dis-honest thing a band can do.
we dont wanna hear studio tricks rehashed

everyone is using it or so it seems!

not jon though! Fair fu*ks to him!

I haven't tried to work them out. Supposedly they dealt with the on-going oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Sounds a bit strange when you know the song for ages. Glad they did not change it.

taking a break from the recent circle tour posts....

an AMAZING duet with Jon and Bruce... 10th Ave Freezeout

IndiannaRose 06-07-2010 11:32 AM

Haha, I can't believe I found this.:o Back in the early 80s, Jon filled in for Scandal's guitarist for one of their music videos (this is before Jon hit it big with Runaway). I just found out about this. I can't believe it! Here's Jon in the video (he's wearing a purple shirt):

Good stuff, thanks! It's funny how Jon hass been playing guitar for over 30 years and all of a sudden, a few years ago, he started needing that useless **** Bandiera to play parts for him.

Richie & Tico interview 7th June 2010 - http://www.youtube.com/user/mrjamese...13/DINmTlVlW4c

The interview is split into parts for some reason and can be accessed on the right hand side panel.

Opening/Blood On Blood - O2 Night 1 -
close-up but partial - farther back but complete - SPOILER ALERT: DON'T WATCH THESE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE HOW THE SHOW OPENS!

IBTFY - O2 Night 1 - THIS is just one reason why Richie shouldn't go back to doing IBTFY for his solo song.

SFTP - O2 Night 1 -
SIBSN (partial) - O2 Night 1 - Just listen to Richie's little solo. <sigh>

I cannot hear the opening chords to that song without getting sucked into it. I simply love it. Thanks

Same here. I immediately lose the ability to breathe. What a song.

Again, amazing video - many thanks!

Kathleen 06-10-2010 03:34 AM

OK I just watched it - what were all the negative comments about the solo doing in the pbp? That was a standard Richie solo - played very nicely I might add - why did people think that Bobby was playing the solo?

More people need to think before they post if you ask me.

Mo was listening on the phone and thought it sounded like a little different solo. People jumped to the conclusion that Richie wasn't playing it, that Bobby was, and it went from there. I can't imagine Richie turning that particular solo over to anyone as long as he could still draw breath and move his fingers.

The solo was masterpiece as usual, but he changed it a little,it seems like they didn't rehearse it since it was last played so he improvised here and there,it wasn't played note by note as on the record :)

ticos_stick 06-10-2010 06:16 AM

It sounds like Richie messes up a little and took the solo on a different course.

Only us eager beavers would notice of course :)

Dicanio 06-10-2010 11:12 AM

Also wonderful!

I think you can tell when Jon starts to feel more comfortable doing Always . . . he starts walking around during it. For the first performances of the song on both the LH tour and this one, he was glued to the mic stand and holding on for dear life. By the time they came back from Europe last time, he was sufficiently comfortable that he could sing it while making his way back to the main stage from the small one out in the audience.

This is gonna get really good . . .
