This performance amazes me every time I see it. Jon rocking on Dave's piano during the solo and then Richie ripping it. Pure 80s Rock brilliance :)

This made me realize that Vienna probably had the best Thorn In My Side performance of the tour, really great!

Captmorgs 04-20-2012 06:49 AM

I had forgotten how great Love's The Only Rule was live. Best new live song in a long time.

I couldn't agree more. I was stunned the first time I saw it played in Philadelphia in 2010. From then on I hoped it would show up in the setlist.

Gorgeous - this was one of the highlights of that night. Can't wait until you finish the whole thing. Do have my recently done audio remaster of that night? Perhaps a matrix of my source and the new one could be tried?

That is your sound source ;) The only problem about the new source is that is has some cuts and a few slight errors and therefore the matrix would not be possible for the complete show.

Damn - too bad - I'm always hoping though. I haven't watched the new source all the way through yet.

There are plenty of free youtube video downloaders available. A quick google search should get you what you need.

Make it a regular live again. Not the boring acoustic version. The rock song with all that emotion, the perfect lyrics and the brilliant music. It's a f*cking amazing song.

I agree that electric version blows the acoustic one out of the water. But even though I hated how frequently they played the acoustic one in 2010, the electric version was a regular in the 2011 European tour :)

bonjovi821 04-25-2012 03:30 AM

I got both the acoustic and electric versions of Saturday night in 2011 and there really was no comparing the two. The electric was just so much more of a fun atmosphere.

Was it? I didn't get it. I got the bog standard as usual.

I heard the electric version in 2008 and the acoustic version in 2010. There's no comparison. The electric version is easily in my top 3 Bon Jovi songs, while the acoustic version is lame.

My favorite version is from the Crush Tour DVD.

Great version. There's also a performance from '03 or '06 or something where it goes on for ages. Brilliant.

I think 'Saturday Night' is also one of the saving graces on the OWN Live '85-'01 CD.

That just gave me goosebumps, I've always liked that song but never really appreciated it to the level that I just did right now, despite owning that DVD for a considerable amount of time. Watching that made me think one thing that isn't said often enough around here:

Bon Jovi are f*cking awesome.

Agreed on the electric vs. acoustic version. But this acoustic version is better than the one they played out on "the circle" on the last tour.

I disagree. At least on The Circle Tour Jon was singing in the same key as the electric version during the last chorus and that would bring some power to the performances.

The best ever performance of sat night was August 2000 in Dublin. No contest. Even God rocked along to the song that night with a few bolts of lightening!

The greatest song ever written.

bonjovi90 05-03-2012 12:31 AM

I so much love this song recently - therefore I dug out an old performance of it and took some dust of it:
Good Golly Miss Molly from Hammersmith Odeon 1990 - the song has a great drive!

Yeah, fantastic job!!! May I ask you how do you record the sound? It can't be the camera, or am I wrong?

Thanks :) nope not the camera, I got a headphone splitter jack plugged into the headphone/audio out on the amp. into that ive got headphones and a cable running direct to PC, i record using Sony Sound Forge and then double the track because it doesnt record both channels.

I use my sony ericsson phone HD camera to record video and just turn the mic off. then comes the hard task of syncing the guitar audio with the video and then the backing track/song lol.
