Extended video clip of the fan club show, including Q&A. I still say that Superman Tonight is made for this type of acoustic treatment.

Awesome jamming on Bitch Is Back. Plain awesome.

Am I the only who have missed David's solo show in May 2012? There are versions of Livin' on a Prayer, Wanted, In These Arms, Bed of Roses, Hallelujah etc. with David on vocals. This came as a real suprise for me and it was a realy pleasure to watch and hear Davids touch on all the classic Bon Jovi songs. It really grabbed me what a voice David still have. To be honest he haven't lost at all as much as Richie have.

Livin' on a Prayer (with band)

Wanted Dead or Alive & In These Arms (piano versions)

Bed of Roses (with band)

Hallelujah (piano version)

Enjoy!! :D

I don't know if this was posted before but I think I just saw something completely different from what I've seen from the same live version of the song during the decade. I think I saw Jon singing the "woooahh livin' on a prayer" part in the first chorus.

Acoustic version of Every Road leads home to you - done this morning on the Howard Stern show:

You can clearly see him do it but you can't hear him sing it. It's more likely he faked that note being such a global even this is. Backing track is loud as hell also, hadn't noticed this before....

Yeah, he's not singing it. He's miming the part, and the backing track is louder than usual, as are David's keyboards. Both David, Richie and Huey have been miming the backing vocals to Prayer for years.

That is a given, of course. But what I want to know is where does the sample come from? Does David do it or Obie or what?

The organ sound there is from Jeff Kazee if I'm not mistaken. I compared the backing track from the Philadelphia 2005 to Nurburgring 1995. () I found out that in the 1995 video, there is even a voice higher than the backing track (most likely Dave although I sense another backing track because it sounded the same throughout the song) and it's the same as 2005, only loud as hell that you can hear Jon's old voice in the last chorus.

If they're still miming the backing vocals then they've been re-recorded. You can hear really clearly that they're mimed in early 2000s performances but on the last few tours the "Livin' on a Prayer" part doesn't sound like it used to. I'm not saying they're not miming, but it definitely sounds different than it used and it's much less obvious.

My guess would be Tico or someone at the sounddesk starts the backing track and Tico plays to a click-track throughout the song. Can't see Dave triggering any samples on the keys, although that's the way I handle it playing with my band. Can be hard getting it on spot sometimes.

David handles the samples on keys, he does a lot of the programming as well. He's the one who starts the backing track just by hitting a key, it works the same way as the "Hey!" in Lay Your Hands On Me during the intro of the song, or the "Faith!" part in Keep The Faith. I think Tico starts the click track though.

And as for re-recording the backing track, I'm not sure. I think they've changed the mix a bit here and there, but they've been miming it for much longer than 2000. Wembley's performance is mimed as well, for example. The difference is back then the band used to sing along to it where as now they're just miming the full part.

Sebastiaan

On the subject of miming during Prayer.

This performance from 87 is totally surreal. The chorus is mimed by both Jon and the band to the original recording, it's cringeworthy and obvious.

I noticed this too. The Strat is back, and I sure as hell ain't complaining. I like how he didn't use on the talkbox on the It's My Life solo. It adds some much needed flair to it.

PS, he used a Strat in the It's My Life video.

Here it is in HD.
Jon sounds like total shit. He needs to take some singing lessons bad. I know they're on an off-period, but he is SO nasal here that it's not even funny.

ETA: Richie sang the second verse of Wanted. It sounded excellent. I'm thinking he might really be the star of the show on this next album/tour.

ETA2: I'm not sure that Richie's tone has improved much.

Tour, definitely, he really is on form at the moment. Album, we can live in hope, but I can't see Richie really shining on this just because of the kind of songs I'm expecting. I'm expecting him to be good, of course, I just can't see myself being blown away.

Yes it was, it was one of the "big boom" versions of KTF and it was explosive.

Right Side Of Wrong - Anaheim 2003. 3 minute Extended keyboard intro. Brilliant!

Tom_K 09-29-2012 12:47 AM

Can someone please post the link to the interview in which Jon was talking about the proccess with a mediator before KTF album when the band all got together and spoke their mind and the mediator helped them resolve their differences?

Walleris 09-29-2012 01:26 AM

Can someone post the video of Richie doing Livin' On A Prayer with a two other guitarists? It must be a few months old. I think it was called Guitar Masterclass, but I remember it being a great performance and I can't find it right now. I'm going to a Richie concert in Amsterdam with my friend, so that would help get him hyped up.

nickolai 09-29-2012 12:48 PM

Great live performance of Bed of Roses in Paris 1993
