Very inspired and different performance of Saturday Night from Jones Beach '95:

He sang this so much better here compared to this last leg of the tour.

bonjovi90 12-23-2013 02:41 PM

Always from Wembley with the original radio broadcast dubbed instead of the later released audio:

You can hear some differences in the mix plus the bum note Richie played when beginning his solo :D

GabrielC 12-24-2013 05:18 AM

Bobby's solo, not that bad.

MrIks from Finland 12-24-2013 01:22 PM

Full concert from Helsinki in 1996. Pure magic. The last concert of These Days tour. One of the the best setlists they ever did. Audio is very good.

Back during the day when they mixed up their setlists well...

Try comparing this to any 2013 performance:

I've been searching through this thread since page 1 & finally decided to ask. Does anyone have a link for a full concert video from any Red Bank Christmas show? Thanks!

There is none circulating. Rumors are that Jon gave a video tape of the 1990 Red Bank show to MTV (and partials were shown on news and similar stuff back in the day) and there is a fanclub-released VHS tape from 1996 which is quite edited. I haven't heard from a full concert video yet.

Thanks anyway & thanks for the info.

I remember listening to that back in 06 and it was neat to hear Jon saying stuff like "if my voice gives out you'll do a song" or something like that. You'll never hear him say that out loud to any press so it was refreshing to know that he at least knows his voice gives out.

I think Jon knows a lot more about himself or the industry as a whole, then we give him credit for.

But I agree. I love stuff like that too. Its as real as it gets.

Agreed. If he took that more human approach in interviews it'd seem easier to be sympathetic when his voice gives out. He just comes across as so damn cocky sometimes.

Bill23 01-11-2014 06:49 AM

Why didn't this song stick around (in set lists)? I was a few seats down from the chick he sings with!

Because Jon can't sing it... although he did a nice job here

If we'd take this as an assumption there shouldn't be any songs on the setlist anymore...this was one of the best songs from recent albums where he really delivered.

That's true... And a song like this does prove that Jon is still very capable of putting out a decent album if the guys just wrote more songs per album. Take the best songs from LH, TC, GH, and WAN... You might actually have a kick ass album.

kleman 01-13-2014 07:36 PM

An awsome performance of Always. For me one of the best. Its from Montreal 1995, Avgust 3 (second night i think)

bonjovi90 01-13-2014 11:25 PM

That's true. I keep saying that the best Always performances actually came in the late summer/early fall of 1995. This one is the perfect example, as is this (where I can't get tired of posting it since it's so good!):

bonjovi90 01-14-2014 03:24 AM

Fields of Fire from the rehearsals for "An Evening with BJ".
The first takes are done with Jon, later Richie takes on some lead vocals!

Amen brother! I was lucky enough to see them in Milwaukee on August 11, 1995. While there is no video of that on YouTube, these are close enough to bring back awesome memories. Always in Camden, NJ and at the Jones Beach shows in 1995 also kick ass.

I just finished listening..... listen closely at the exact 15 minute mark to about 15:30. Richie nails it vocally and Jon says 'that's great'. Jon then tries it and falls flat so Richie coaches him through it. Jon don't seem thrilled but does it anyway.

Bty, are you sure this is a live rehersal and not in a studio?

Lets pretend that there are members here who work in the BJ camp and have access to that mysterious vault. And lets also hope they are in the process of going through it now in lieu of another box set.

Captain_jovi 01-14-2014 08:35 AM

I don't think it was a member here that has access to the vault but I think some stuff is slowly leaking out. Also I agree with whoever said it's more likely it's a rehearsal studio demo than during Evening With. It'd make no sense for this to be rehearsed then.

EDIT: This is such a huge major find. Also at 9:50 you can clearly hear Alec, almost throwing a wrench into the "Alec never played in the studio" idea. Though you can hear him making some out of key mistakes.

Supersonic 01-14-2014 10:23 AM

From a file sharing board. It is not the studio rehearsal but it's for the recording of an Evening With. The two days of rehearsal and the two shows have leaked, all in this quality. There's a few other songs out there like this as well that weren't part of the broadcast and you hear them rehearse songs like the Animals medley and Papa Was A Rolling Stone for the first time. Someone has to go out and buy the original record so they all know how the original vocal arrangements are and I think Tico sings partially lead on that as well. Alec makes plenty of mistakes, he can't play the Keep The Faith bass intro and skips notes here and there. It's a great find. :)

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
