Maybe true, but I like the rawness of the performance I posted, combined with the longer hair and the slight beard, it just fits the Blaze era more :-) The Stockholm one is great though, too...

The only thing interesting about this is evidence that Jon is in Hollywood.

I love this song so much...and i especially love the end where Jon keeps repeating ''love ain't nothing but 4 letter word'' and the song fades out. He sings those last lines with so much pessimism as if the love of his life broke his heart.
Does anyone know the background of the song? is it just another ''grey summer song'' or does it have a different background?

I love this version of the song! I wish it made it to KTF as it would have easily replaced a song like Woman in Love or Blame it on the Love of R'n'R in my books. It seems to be about domestic violence.

I used to like this song but now I don’t.
I think Keep The Faith is strange album for me. I love it all until Dry County but then its littered with average songs like Blame it on the Love, Woman In love, I want you but I love Fear, Bit of Soul and Save a prayer.
I personally don’t see where Love is 4 letter word would fit on KTF. It sounds like an old fashioned B-side track to me.

I always enjoyed I Want You just because.of Jon's voice, but Woman in Love and Blame it on the love of rnr could have been easily replaced with Fields of Fire and Love Ain't Nothing But a 4 Letter Word,IMO

For me this would be the ideal KTF track-listing:

I Believe
Keep The Faith
Save A Prayer
In These Arms
Bed of Roses
Fear
Dry County
Fields of Fire
If I Was Your Mother
Love Ain't Nothing But A Four Letter Word
Starting All Over Again
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Little Bit of Soul

Having said that, the actual version of KTF is my favourite album of all time.

That scream at 4:05 gets me every freaking time. What a great rock band they used to be...i can't believe how different today's Jon is from the Jon in this video.

Why? you wouldn't share it with us if you had it anyway... You stated that you have a solid collection but yet never offer any of it to anyone.

I would just not with you :). Just ask the others.

Seriously, what do you expect?
A package from her with all the stuff she collected over decades just because you claim to be the "World’s Most Knowledgeable BON JOVI Fan!!!" ??
I don't know any other person who shares more of her stuff with fans than Kathleen does. And it's mostly done in places that are accessible to anyone.

I'm turning into a cranky old Bon Jovi fan...

Kathleen 05-02-2015 08:27 PM

Thanks guys - appreciate the support. I will share with anyone who is also willing to share. I have never understood hoarding. Part of the fun is sharing with like-minded other fans.

Becky 05-02-2015 11:30 PM

Kathleen is the first person to share things and she's completely trustworthy. I don't have the technology to transfer stuff to a format to share via computer, but I've sent stuff to her and she's converted it and shared it with others. I would trust her with ANYTHING in my collection because I know she would handle it with care and send it back!

Lucas_Roli 05-06-2015 08:54 PM

Don't know if i posted this guy before, but if you haven't seen his videos, you should really check them out. He's one hell of a guitar player.

Don´t know if I exactly understand everything he said. But I think he said that Make a Memory made him (nearly) cry when it was new *.* - That´s cute, we have sth. in common :p
I wonder what inspired him to that Song, it seems to be really personally and means a lot to him. Beutiful Song! :,)

He said that he had people coming to him and telling him that the song made them teary when they heard it on the radio and they had to pull the car over because of that.
When Jon started on that song he was lying on his couch or sth similar and had the guitar on him. The intro came from the position 'cause he was only able to play that one chord that way. I think it was on "Inside The Actors" studio where he explained it.

Hm, really? I thought he was talking about himself, because he said sth. like the Song was in an early stage. Doesn´t that mean that it was sth. like a Demo CD and not the final version on the Radio? And he was somehow talking in an I-Perspektive (´cause he said sth. like that´s the thing he had?.), so I understood that he said he was the one who had to pull the car to the side...

Now I´m confused xD He expressed incomprehensible and maybe he mumbles too much xD ... But maybe only my english is too bad

Yeah, I know the Interview when he said that he was hanging on the couch in a strange position and played the intro xD But I mean, what is the story behind this Song, what made him write these Lyrics? After all, it seems to be a very personal Song and meaning a lot to him. It also reminds me on the thing with Richie. I wonder if there is any connection about that.

I'm not sure about the ITA interview but he definetely told this during the backstage interview on "Wetten dass...???" 2007.

With "in this early stage" he related to the record being released shortly before the interview was done and people still regarding it as new and unknown material. Usually the band (they mentioned that several times throughout their career) was only told stories about how people lost their virginity to SWW, proposed to a ballad like Bed of Roses and so on. He was probably surprised that he got plenty of feedback on such a new song.

I don't think Make A Memory goes far beyond being a song about a fictional person. In my opinion Jon was always good at crafting those lyrics about a twisted relationship and this mysterious woman, like Superman Tonight, She's A Mystery, Make A Memory, Hard Letting You Go, Mystery Train etc. That's the one occasion where a song, in my eyes, actually benefits from the lyrics being vague in some spots and leaving room for own imagination and interpretation.
Whole Lot of Leaving was written about Richie and I guess songs like Everybody's Broken or One Step Closer strongly connect to what Dave and Richie went through during that period of time. I personally don't think that MAM falls into that category though.

Something...in German school books this abbreviation (along with "sb" for somebody) is often used, especially on the vocabulary pages when certain meanings have to be explained in a short amount of letters.
I always assumed it was used in English language as well, just like e.g. when shortening "for example".

Bon Jovi - These Days And Always (Interview 1995):

Very nice interview with some reflecting on the songs that made the TD record, as well as Jon talking about the band's status and history in '95.

Haha Chris Jericho sounded kind of pissed off when he said that he is also calling out Desmond Child because he wrote the lyrics.
And Duff McKagan sounds a bit jealous...but I didn't expect something else from an (ex) Guns n Roses member.

Wow... It's been so long, yet a bunch of Jovi fans still take those words seriously...

I'm quite impressed with Jericho's knowledge of Jovi, opening for Scorpions and Desmond; I expected less from a heavy metal singer.
