One could only wish for that kind of passion these days.

No band came close to Bon Jovi at their peak. That's just amazing.

I have the full audience recording of Milan 1995 but I never knew a soundboard version existed. It must come from some "insider" cause as far as I know this show wasn't broadcasted on radio or TV.

Do you know if the full concert is available in soundboard quality or it's just this song?

As far as I know it stems from the 2010 Special Editions. Back then they re-released their back catalogue with some bonus live tracks added. Diamond Ring and This Ain't A Love Song were on the physical copies as far as I remember (and I think both are from Milan as well). But there was some service where you were able to unlock extra tracks online via the band's website or something like that. And Hey God came from there.

Richie and Hugh are on speaking terms, at least

Yeah I completely forgot about those special editions!

I had never seen this performance. Great.

liljovi93 01-04-2016 12:30 AM

I absolutely love this performance. I know Jon messes up a couple of times and on some parts doesn't sound the best vocally but look at the energy and passion when he sings this.

It looks like it kills him to put the microphone back on the stand at times. Straight after he puts it down he picks it back up again.

Never forget watching this for the first time in my mates house and even he sat and watched it with me because of the energy Jon had on this.

This is all I ask for...

I love it too. It's a new album and an early show for the new album. I have loved "The Circle" since I first heard it and this embodies what I think is so good about it. It seems that Jon thought so too - at least early in the tour.

Not bad.... but he can't get the notes out during Something To Believe In. He might even be able to sing it better now then he did then...

He did better in 2010, but he wouldn't even be able to sing it closely to this Tokyo performance nowadays. That being said, there was a very solid performance of STBI in Osaka just a few days before.

Wish they would do more live from debut and 7800c instead of filers like Capt Crush and Who says.
I remember them saying they would in 2010 and then binned them after crowds in "Hawaii" didnt like them. Really ****ed me off that. Europe wouldve loved them.

Got a little bit of 80's feeling last night :D

And a breathtaking These Days jam. Started out as an acoustic rendition and morphed into a full band version.

I love how the dude from Bounce did the "I'd guess i'd rather die than fade away" part like Jon did on the TD tour. I always wondered why Jon didn't do it the same way in the studio when they were recording the song..?

Since Jon didn't do this until the late summer of '95 I'd assume that it was developed on the road. Many songs improved live in comparison to the studio album back in the days.

I talked him into doing that in 2012. He hadn't heard respective live performances before and I sent him some videos, asking him to try it.
The next show he went for it:

Dear god that is awesome. Thanks

It's always been about the music for me - and to see someone else singing it so well is great.

Some cool footage but this guy seems a little creepy. Like an 80's porn star or something.

This song is so freaking catchy, everything is sooo good, the keyboards, tico's drum playing and that guitar riff all blend perfectly together. I just clicked on it by accident while i was listening to music on my headphones on my way to uni. What do you guys think, is there a high quality recording in the vaults somewhere of this track?

There was a discussion on this around the time the NJ Deluxe versions was released a few years back. If you listen closely, you could hear Jon and even make out some lyrics. I do believe that this song was meant to have lyrics throughout and even as an instrumental, it sounds amazing.

I also think there is a vault that is flooded with a never ending amount of material, including this track. Probably a bunch of verses and chorus' that will never see the light of day...

Wow, Jon was nailing those like a big boy in 2008. I almost forgot how decent his high register was in 2007-2011.

What an awesome performance. This is the way I want to remember the band!

bonjovi90 01-29-2016 02:01 PM

The entire performance is great, but that kneefall with the raspy vocals at 6:48!!! It's because of moments like these the Circle tour was so special to me :)

What a great performance. It reminded me of the KTF tour where Jon would hi5 his fans while singing In These Arms with so much passion.

This showcases that if he is really into the song and performs it instead of just singing it than new stuff catches the audience as good as the old stuff does. But unfortunately there aren't too many "new" songs where he shows this passion.
And by saying that: The Circle/Greatest Hits tour was one hell of tour!!!

Agree... And why that song hasn't been in every single set since is beyond me. It could have been Jon's modern day "KTF"
