Perhaps we should be enablers. He sure sounded great and I want that Jon back too damnit.

Full show from Dublin 2001. Checkout this dudes channel, he has a lot of cool and rare stuff uploaded. Too bad the performance of One isn't a full one.

EDIT: the Album version (the very last song) has some great backing vocals mix

That version is the one they did on the roof on Letterman:

Currently one of my absolute favourites:

Great lyrics and mood transported in that tune - especially if you dig into Jon's mindset from that period of the time when he wrote the song.
Spent a lot of time enhancing the audio on this :)

Faceman 04-11-2016 07:22 AM

Absolute gem!
So happy I could hear it live in Mannheim 2011.

Full show from the Undiscovered Soul -tour. I wish Richie played these songs even after his more recent albums. Undiscovered Soul is definitely one of my all-time favourite records!

Completed with some Bon Jovi and Beatles songs - simply great!

Sometimes I use this video to remind myself of how good this band used to be:

Cracking gig from 89.

I just wish the audio was better...

I probably got this from here, but I really like this live version of Always. It's short but I really like the edit, the instruments are beefy and it has the extra Richie vocals

Bon Jovi on Jay Leno 1994 / 95 - YouTube

Was this the only time they played it in the original key?

rolo_tomachi 04-12-2016 10:37 PM

All I Want Is Everything could have been the perfect opener song for the These Days tour.

Lucas_Roli 04-17-2016 02:27 PM

What an awesome cover. Gosh what a pleasant voice Jon used to have..

Kev 04-17-2016 06:37 PM

Slightly different version of Blood on Blood from Tokyo 1997, different key and a few ad-libs :)

Listen to the improv in Saturday Night at 1:26:53 and you know when Jon probably wrote the tune Destination Anywhere :D

Wow!!! Great Find... He actually wrote it in London, March of 1996...

Lucas_Roli 04-22-2016 09:04 AM

He also does some ad-libs at the end of In These Arms in Buenos Aires 1993 and he mentions "forever and a day" which makes me think that he was already writing Always at the time

Interesting Point!!! That Ad Lib in itself is a song within a song. I actually made my own mix with a bunch of ad-libs from different shows...

Let It Rock, Livin In Sin, I'll Be There For You from '89 all have amazing ad-libs.

Rdkopper 04-22-2016 11:57 PM

Not feeling this! The fact that they slowed down IML to make them compatible loses all credibility with me. Besides exchanging the voice box WahWah - the rest is just filler...

I'm pretty sure the song had already been written then. He had originally penned it for the film "Romeo Is Bleeding" which had its UK release in 1993. Jon had pulled the song beforehand after not liking the movie, so that makes it somewhere around early 1993.
In an interview he stated that he was in the UK with the band when they re-visited the tune and recorded is a band. That may actually have been during the band's 2nd UK leg in the summer of 1993.

Interesting. Did he confirm that? I know he had written a few tunes in his trailer in early 1996 while shooting the Leading Man movie, but so far all I've known is that All In The Name of Love came from there and was later turned into Staring At Your Window. Never heard him talk about any other specific tunes.
But he mentioned that Janie Don't Take Your Love To Town was written in Holland during the 1996 These Days tour, so he still was working on songs during the period.

The album's liner notes states where and when each song was written.

Yeah, think they could have done a much better job with a mash up of these two. That one doesn't work, but I love a good mashup and those 2 songs would always be a good candidate for one.

Also, didn't he lose his notebook with lyrics written in his trailer or I am imagining that piece of news? Can't remember if he got it back it he did.

Yes, there are actually two DVD versions of that concert. But I don't see how it fits into this topic?

nickolai 04-23-2016 11:13 PM

Some corkers here from 1986-90 era. Some that i haven't heard before. Soundboard quality. Love I'll Be There For You here. Probably the best and most passionate version i've heard.

Those screams at the end. Can you imagine being in the studio with them witnessing Jon pull of screams like that?

rolo_tomachi 05-02-2016 02:48 PM

Great voice and performance. Now is gone.

Lucas_Roli 05-02-2016 07:20 PM

I almost forgot about this performance. I love how much passion he puts into the song although his voice was completly shot, this is proof that you can turn an "ok" song into a great song if you really put all the you have passion into it.

Amazing live version of In These Arms

This is awesome! So nice to hear Jon nail those highs in that awesome KTF era voice! Is this the best live version or one of the best?

Great version, though I never really liked the song live, since the guitar sounds so different to the studio version (in the studio one it's rather dark and full, whereas live it's always bright and thin and they mix the keyboards way too loud to cover for it)...
