Cool moment but the dude can't sing his own songs anymore... That was painful... When Jon sings just past the 2:00 minute mark, he sings so out of key, he throws the band and that girl out of key!!!!

Wow, I'm feeling bad for the guy. That's really painful. Still, cool thing he did it. And must have been a while since he sang LOAP in its original key?

Faceman 07-05-2016 04:22 PM

That's the reason why I won't invite Jon to my wedding next year...

Oh c'mon, that wasn't that bad at all. After reading, I have expected the worst, but I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised.

I don't think he threw them off, I think the girl just improvised a different melody. Seemed to fit for me.

This.

Not bad as the others were saying...and I think it was not his fault in the change of the key.

I would never have a member of Bon Jovi perform at my wedding -- they'd be prettier than the bride!

Absolutely right -- Jon had to stop singing because the key was too high. Which simply would have been a "not ready for prime time" miscue on Valentin's part, except that she brags of "arranging" the song for her band -- oops, I mean, "quintet" -- beforehand. Too bad it didn't occur to her to arrange it in a key that would have been suitable for both of them.

More
(including a longer version where you can almost hear Jon thinking "I can't sing that high anymore!")

A better visual of the LOAP event...

Jon looks like Bill Clinton up there... His hair went from the salt and pepper gray look to now just white... And it's July, he's white as a ghost...

Lol, I've been wondering that same thing. It sort of changes to various degrees of graying in his appearances. Maybe it's the lighting, maybe he's just kind of lazy with regards to using his just for men kit....

Jon sounded just fine, honestly. The "it's all that you got" was sung in a lower register, he dodged the chorus high notes... but that's nothing new. The actual tone of his voice was actually in pretty good shape.

And it's pretty surprising considering he hasn't sung Prayer in its original key for over two decades. Obviously it's awful when compared to past Jon but by mid-2010s standards it's quite decent.

I've been looking for a clear mix of the video version of Everyday, with the chords in the intro. Shame it fades towards the end, I'll have to make an edit.

I dont think the video accompanies the song.

At end of video JBJ takes jacket off and then next time you see him its back on.
Looks like someone made this video from another live version of the song.

It amazes me when I compare this Jon to the Jon we have today...

He's so different in EVERY WAY.... I get everyone ages but his voice, personality, musical direction, etc is just so different... I'm not saying that I don't like it, it's just different... Also not my choice of the two but it is what it is I guess...

The set lists from 86-95 are so much better than the setlists from 95 onwards.
The reason? Obvious I guess but the early stuff was so much better. Its quality over quantity!

Jon for once changes the lyrics to "like Sinatra said I did it my way". Very good performance!

That's a cool find. I kind of wish that was the lyric.

I remember very well that Jon always talked about how Richie said people wouldn't know who "Frankie" was. I think using the last name was much better and it fits in just as well in the song.

I disagree. It sounded great to sing once, but as a lyric "Frankie said I did it my way" is a lot more subtle and actually makes a listener think to remember the reference (because you have to know Sinatra and that song), so I think it's fine the way they did it.

Oh I have no problem with the way it was done, but I don't think Jon should have always been bring it up about how Richie didn't agree with him about it. It just made it seem like Jon had to keep making it clear who was the Boss when everybody including Richie knew full well who the Boss was.

But to be fair, it doesn't seem to me that the Frankie story got any more air time than the story about Jon not thinking LOAP would be a hit and didn't want it on the album until Richie (and Des, in a few of the stories, iirc) convinced him. So in the he said/he said category, the two stories kinda balance each other.
