Somebody help me - I can't stop watching this concert:

Just had the greatest moment with this video.. You know, when the music just hits you and you just close your eyes and starts to sing along and jam to it, I almost had tears in my eyes. The whole thing amazing but after the solo is something out of this world

Time to build some anticipation for the upcoming fan video Damned TV and I have been working on for a solid year :)

So good. :onfire:

Walleris 01-26-2018 08:51 AM

That KTF looks and sounds fantastic!

Anytime I see a video like this from 1993 I get more pissed about how little pro footage we have from that year, compared to other eras (the same applies to 2001).

Oh man...thanks to you both. I think I've already said how much I love your channel...same for Damned Tv. You are brilliant!!!

Seeing that Keep the Faith...They should DEFINITELY doing this one in the HOF cerimony. Jon can still sing this one (not like in this video, but we can accept) and it would give Alec and Richie some highlights. Fingers crossed.

I've been working with my Bon Jovi music in random order and I was hearing one of my favorites Runaway's (Brussels 1984) so I thought in looking for it in youtube to put the link on my twitter and I can't find it on youtube, anybody has the link?

Maybe it simply isn't on YouTube. But you can go ahead and upload it yourself ;)

Great performance of TAALS from Lisbon 2011. Jon even brings out his famous rasp at the last " Then I'm wrong, yes I'm wrong".

Great performance of TAALS from Lisbon 2011. Jon even brings out his famous rasp at the last " Then I'm wrong, yes I'm wrong".

Don't even mention that part... I'm honestly about to cry :(

Jon also pushed out the rasp at the end of the Prague 2013 TAALS rendition:

https://youtu.be/8HfPJN-ocok

It's unbelievable how good he was still sounding while "screaming" like that even in mid-'13. Why the hell has he stopped doing it? I mean, the ability must still be there...

EDIT: That last "YES, I'm wrong..." in Prague, though... how should I describe it?

Let's put it like this: it strongly reminds me of my puberty and the vocal change caused by it. :D Poor Jonny... he looks genuinely pissed off/disappointed after that part. You can't really see his facial expressions, but he's obviously not very happy. Pretty much every time he hangs his head down like that, he also gives himself the stink eye. See here:

https://youtu.be/wmwXEeS6zyE (These Days - Madrid 2013)

The way he keeps hanging his head down during the choruses and the faces he keeps making throughout the song say everything you need to know. He's completely aware of the fact that he sounds like shit these days (ba-dum tssh!). He does care, and it shows. I'm pretty sure that not even Seb hates Jon's current voice as much as Jon himself does.

Btw, I think all the comments Jon has recently made about his voice (e.g. "I'm in a really good vocal shape nowadays...") are based on his own will to convince himself that he can still sing, although it's more than obvious that he knows he can't. He's clearly feeling really bad about it. Not that he's ever going to admit it, though...

I think that he stopped using the rasp because I think it's not really healthy for your vocals but I'm not sure. Also, Jon is definitely aware of his vocal problems these days ( no pun intended). If he wasn't, he'll be the biggest idiot of all time. He definitely hates his voice right now when he remembers what he was capable of from 1984 -1996.

I'd really like to know what Jon says about his vocals to his bandmates after the shows... the words "f***" and "shit" must make frequent appearances! :D

EDIT: After thinking about it for a while, he's probably so frustrated that he can't really say anything...

He probably just growls silently and bites his teeth to prevent himself from having a rage outburst.

Holy shit, that 3rd night in Sydney '10 really was something else... once again, here's that magical version of Something To Believe In that's been posted here probably dozens of times already - however, this is probably "just" the third time by me:

https://youtu.be/67ySaGogCK0

For about 5 1/2 minutes, we're back in the nineties again. Is it wrong for me to say that this performance of STBI was probably Jon's best vocal performance of a single song since 1996 (alongside this version of Always)?

https://youtu.be/hSRgXTL46OY

He hits every single note. EVERY. SINGLE. NOTE. No matter if they're high or low, he nails them, and it doesn't sound forced, either. What happened within the following three and a half years that made him lose his vocal control and consistency has been discussed plenty of times (with many different views and opinions having been displayed), but I'm still confused. I mean, the guy could probably even have sung My Guitar Lies Bleeding In My Arms with relative ease had he tried back then, and nowadays he can't even sing Who Says or Because We Can without f***ing up at least 75% of the notes he goes for...

I frequently come back to this performance of Always. It’s not even a real show. And it’s just magic.

I agree. The whole song just sounded so easy for Jon to sing there. It was absolutely unbelievable. In terms of vocal consistency, 2010 was probably his best year since 1996. Besides just a couple of bum notes in February, Jon was on f***ing fire throughout the whole year. This version of These Days is mind blowing:

https://youtu.be/gooaY45jvcM

It's literally crazy how good he was sounding back then - not only from today's perspective, but period. For a 48-year-old man with more than 25 years of (mostly) high-pitched singing behind him, his range was still pretty damn impressive in '10. Also here:

https://youtu.be/q9RPebGaVyM

Jon brings back his 90s voice on the last "Ain't nobody left but us..." part and the crowd participation towards the end of the song is absolutely stunning. How I wish a time machine existed...

Best live performance of the song. Jon looks possessed and near the middle of the song he hits Dave's keyboard. :D

A great performance, indeed. I don't like Novocaine as a song that much, but if I saw the guys (especially JBJ) perform it like this in concert, I'd be really impressed and happily forget about the mediocrity of the song itself.

The Philly audience also got to witness one of the best post-2k Saturday Night renditions - Jon goes nuts around 5:48 and the build-up to the last chorus is simply breathtaking:

https://youtu.be/Up_esvZBG00

EDIT: Note that he also goes for - and nails - the high "HEY HEY HEY HEY" on the last chorus!

Does anyone know if the whole show is around as this kind of a screen recording? The set list was awesome and the band obviously was on fire. I'd love to see the whole gig.

Why do you think Novocaine is mediocre?

DavetheGodofKeys 01-29-2018 07:25 PM

Legendary performance, definitely in the top 5 performances of KTF. During the jungle part Jon does the jungle screams and also belts out a long and gritty C5.

The song is OK if you listen to it maybe once a year, but it just goes nowhere. There's no depth, no memorable elements. It's a filler.

Ladies and gentlemen, that C5 right there is what ruined Jon's control of his chest voice/raspy high register for eternity. It sounds really unhealthy, although extremely impressive at the same time.

I've tried it myself, and it's a combination of throaty and chesty screaming with an added head voice edge. It's one of the hardest and most exhausting screaming/shouting techniques you could imagine, and easily leaves you without voice for a good few minutes. Don't even try, it makes both your throat and your head ache...

Here's another of my favorite KTF performances:

https://youtu.be/xbB-wdJPTQA

That mega-raspy "Get down on your knees and pray!" around 2:56 gets me every time.
