After David's solo, Richie takes the lead vocals on one chorus of Rock And Roll Music.

Great upload, thanks man!
I'd guess Richie and Jon shared the mic after Dave's solo and as usual Richie dominated with his voice :D

I don't think so, because Richie was singing the lead part and not the harmony.

I tend to think the it wasn't a shared mic either because Richie's singing voice sounds as loud as Jon's here. If he had sung into the lead microphone on such short notice, it would have been much louder since Jon's singing voice usually is rather quiet in comparison to many other singers.

Faceman 11-28-2019 10:37 PM

Well, unless we find some video footage we won't get a solution, but...:D

I listened to it a couple of times now and I still think that they share a mic.
I see your point with the harmonies, Walleris, but the chorus in that song doesn't have harmonies.
Regarding the loudness, Dominik - Richie is much louder than Jon, that's why you think he's singing lead :D You can still hear Jon singing the chorus as well, just not as loud because of Richie's voice.
Just watch and listen to other performances where they shared the mic (e.g. the first bridge from I'd Die For You from Montreal 1995, beginning at 01:00 ), it's the same...let's call it "vocal pattern" or loudness level between their voices. Richie's dominant voice with Jon's quite lower one in the background.

And besides those points, it wouldn't make any sense for Richie to sing lead on that one. Why would he?
1) Jon wants him to shine? Than he probably would have made a short "announcement" like "come on, Richiiieee" or something like that or some wild gestures that would have made the audience going wild - but none of that can be heard. And in that case Jon wouldn't sing the chorus, too.
2) Jon has a vocal problem and thus wants Richie to help him out? In that case Jon wouldn't sing it together with him either.
Additional to those 2 points, you can hear Jon start singing the chorus before Richie kicks in which doesn't make any sense, too, if Richie is supposed to sing lead.
3) Jon has nothing to do with it but Richie decided to sing lead from his sidekick-position? Come on, even in 2013 Richie wouldn't have dared to do so :D

After "reviewing" this material from Toronto a few days earlier, you're most likely right. At the end of David's solo, you see Richie looking to Jon like "should I come to mic or not" and Jon seems to give some signal for him not to and he's like "okay, I'll go to my own microphone".

It's not about the video from Toronto but the audio from St. Paul, Dominik posted a couple of posts above ;)
The video from Toronto was just used to make a point.

Cool!, it was originally written for 7800° fahrenheit or Slippery When Wet?

The whole performance wasn't too good. It's funny how fans praise this show which is mainly because it's the only proper Pro Shot recording from that tour. Actually, the band was rather off that night, the other shows on that tour (even in Yokohama) were far better

None of both. They got the invitation to play there while having been on tour for the Fahrenheit album. They wrote this song on tour, played it for this occasion and dropped it right afterwards again. Much like Cadillac Man.

For me, this is their best concert, of course that's highly subjective. But not only was this my favourite album and tour, this shows the band at their pinnacle to me. Great setlist with classic tunes, an unbelievable intense performance (so good that it's hard to put it into words) and the right measure between their amazing youthful energy they had in their first decade and the refined, spot-on playing they accomplished in the 90's.
I took the files from the master recording and tried to get them to sound as good as possible. Especially in the beginning, the bass is quite distorting, I can't tell whether this was from when it was mastered back in 1998 or due to the original recording already having had the problem. But it gets okay as the show progresses. I really tried to get a more sonic sound since especially the guitars and keyboards got buried in the original mix.

Setlist:
01. Rockin' In The Free World [0:00]
02. Hey God [5:54]
03. Livin' On A Prayer [13:46]
04. You Give Love A Bad Name [19:53]
05. Keep The Faith [23:37]
06. These Days [31:31]
07. Lie To Me [39:27]
08. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night [47:13]
09. Something For The Pain [55:14]
10. Because The Night (a capella) [1:00:34]
11. Damned [1:01:42]
12. Blaze Of Glory [1:09:29]
13. Lay Your Hands On Me [1:15:05]
14. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead [1:24:30]
~ Papa Was A Rolling Stone [1:29:31]
~ Jumpin' Jack Flash [1:30:29]
15. Bad Medicine [1:33:46]
~ Shout [1:39:37]

Encore 1:
16. Always [1:43:10]
17. Wanted Dead Or Alive [1:50:26]
18. Blood On Blood [1:56:59]
19. With A Little Help From My Friends (with Robin Zander) [2:03:09]

Encore 2:
20. Runaway [2:10:31]
21. This Ain't A Love Song [2:16:15]

Captmorgs 12-09-2019 01:39 AM

Freakin’ awesome. Widely considered one of their greatest shows, but I always thought the quality of the recording was inferior to some other great shows in 1995. You’ve fixed that. Well done.

That's actually from the Fanclub show in 2009...
There's a complete SBD recording of that concert.

I don't think so, this was the 2009 show's Lonely:
The 2011 was I think a different fan club show.

Best performance of Wild Is The Wind - stunning vocals! And also an interesting keyboard effect used by Dave.

Even though 1995 was littered with great performances of this track, this here is one of my favourites, especially for the second verse! I don't think I've ever seen Jon deliver that so intense and passionate as he did here! But the whole performance is masterclass!
Audio and video remastered!

I was at this show. Everybody I was with was blown away. We all went out for a drink after the show and we kept saying - Holy shit - did I just hear that?

This was a real high point and was a precursor of the great 2011 European tour.
