Yup yup. It was the only 2013 performance of the song.

The way Jon abandons the tambourine partway through to grip the mic for dear life says it all.

But I'd still take a performance like this this over most of the songs in the current setlist.

Damn I wish the band released soundboards in 2011 especially around the return to the U.K.
Edinburgh- https://youtu.be/dGIkVgOtK8w
Dublin 2- https://youtu.be/z6O2DPLl9uQ
Bristol- https://youtu.be/dU-c1_cp4Gk

HRC was something special but these shows seem it as well.

Out of all the Sambora players on youTube I really like you the most. Though you're able to play like a mother****er you're not overdoing it. You seem to "Get" the way he's playing and yet there's still a bit of your own style in there as well. Well done. :)

Wow, Thank You so much, Seb. That's high praise and means a lot to me! My two favorite guitar players [Richie Sambora & Dave Mustaine] aren't the most technical in their domain but have an unmistakable feel and swing that I'd take over virtuosos level fretboard acrobatics/wankery.

I think Mustaine is a technical riff and rythm player, especially for metal. Certainly his riffs are more technical than those of his peers (the Big Four). Swing and fretboard wankery can also go together as well. There are examples of players who could do both.

I like that Richie could do the showy stuff and sometime did, but it was always his feel and sense of melody that got to me. He was so clever at making the solo a song within a song while still completey servicing the total song. He was also a master of taking something simple and making it outstanding. His riffs are mostly beginner level but the classic ones transcend any talk of skill. Anyway, one of the worst things in the guitar community is hard to play = good and easy to play = bad.

What a nice antidote to listening to the recent stuff. Time is a cruel mistress.

Captain_jovi 06-04-2021 11:08 PM

Don't know how many will agree with me on this one but they murdered the feel of this song by adding "horns".

Very cool, don't think I've seen the Bombay footage before. Full songs, but that kind of thing would be a nice addition to the JBJ Experience (hint hint).

When a TV snippet from the mid-90's offers more rare and interesting live footage than the JBJ Experience...

Captain_jovi 06-15-2021 08:41 PM

That's frigging cool. I don't think I've seen footage of Jon playing guitar on Wild in the Streets. Is that a rare thing?

Yeah pretty much. He did it in Quebec 1993 and maybe on one other occasion or so. But it was the exception to the rule ;)

BJFan99 06-16-2021 09:56 AM

It's now been exactly 13 years since my first Bon Jovi concert. Good god, this was a great moment:

https://youtu.be/la_FAZIB3G0

Ok, so Jon falls slightly flat on a couple of notes, ok, Richie completely f@cks up at one point during the outro solo, ok, the video quality is meh even for that era. But you know what? It doesn't matter one bit. I'll be eternally grateful that I got to hear this song performed with Richie and with Jon's good voice even once.

If only I had known back then what was to come... :(

Anyone else enjoying Ken Tamplins vocal analysis of Jon? Hes posted a couple of very informative videos of Jons singing style over the past few weeks covering Blaze Of Glory and Bad Medicine

This one gives a great perspective of Jon singing Its My Life and issues that he was having even back in 2000
