Interesting... this is a good example of an awesome high energy performance (just look at Tico at the start, and Jon sprinting about the place) BUT a lousey vocal performance.

Whereas nowadays we get consistent mediocre vocals from Jon but less energy.

Wouldn't call it a lousy vocal performance to be honest.....

SO "consistent mediocre vocals and less energy" is certainly not better than high energy and "lousy" vocals or am I wrong ??!!

Looking at Jonas face however, it becomes clear that he is suffering while singing the high notes, which he manages to hit for the most part.

Besides the energy, listen to the noise that is being made wich just the five of them.
Even with 5 extra teletubbies it doesn't even come close nowadays

You're on a roll, Yvonne! I can't keep up. 8)

BTW, the 1995 link for Rockin in the Free World is actually the same as the one for 2000. I found one from 1995, but I wondered which one you wanted to tell us about. I might not have found the RIGHT one from 1995!

Thanks for these, btw. I've seen a lot of them, but there were some I'd missed.

Okay, how does "chuff a duck" translate into American English?! LOL I need to find a site with British slang to use in conjunction with this board. I love how you guys put things, but I'm not all ways sure I get it. (BTW, I'm finding that I want to use "gutted" lately. What a great word! But I'm gonna get some funny looks here in the American south.)

If it can't be explained in polite company, feel free to say so!

(Don't)Lie_to_me 12-11-2007 04:01 AM

Ecky Thump! How can you not have used "gutted" until lately! Cor Blimey.

I'll give you a monkey if you can tell me what Chalfonts are.

Ok i was all over the country then ;)

Chuff, is from Chuffing usually, and a euphemism for F*ck. It's also used for the anus ("up the chuff"), or my favourite, to mean "to be pleased": IE; I was chuffed with that gig. I love saying Chuffed to buggery (buggery being anal sex).

Ecky Thump is a northen exclamation, and cor blimey is a countrywide exclamation. a Monkey is a London thing for £500, and Chalfonts is an example of Cockney (London) Rhyming Slang: Chalfont St Giles (a buckinghamshire town) ; Piles

I knew I shouldn't have asked! ROFLOL

When I was in graduate school, I had a roommate from Long Island, NY -- never did figure out what she was saying. And it took me years to catch on to what was being said after I moved to the South. Growing up in middle America (Missouri) just doesn't prepare you for the rest of the world!

Thanks for the tutorial . . . I think . . .
