[QUOTE=RS8MB0R8;730024I've got my name down for a season ticket as soon as one becomes available - pretty long waiting list though! :([/QUOTE]

It's fine if you're as tall as I am but I can understand why you've said that. My fiancee who came with me was sitting on the edge of her seat and struggling to peer over the barrier as was the girl sitting next to her. I could follow the action everywhere on the pitch though so it wasn't detrimental to the overall experience at all.
It's nice to have the space in front of you to be honest. You feel like you're part of the action a little more than if you're half-way back too. It's just down to personal taste I suppose. |

Good luck with the season ticket! :) |
Isn't Leeds like the RKC of Holland, the Bochum of Germany?
|

Leeds is a legend. They played several European Cup finals and I think they have even won some. It's just bad management that put them where they are now... in the 3rd league I guess... and who the heck is RKC? |

I wouldnt mind Liverpool winning it this year, I think they could do it too. They are out of the Premiership race and FA cup so can concentrate on it. |

To the former "Champions Cup", now Champions League, you made it once to the final, but you had no chance against the likes of Beckenbauer, Müller or Breitner...the days of the Great BAYERN MÜNCHEN...we won it 3 times on a row then :D...simply brillance. If I'd compare it to any German Team than Leeds would be like Borussia Mönchengladbach. They have 3 UEFA Cups, played 2 Champion Cup finals but are playing against relegation this season. They're not quite as bad as Leeds but on their way... |

Yeah yeah...I read about it as well. As far as I know, Leeds got a 3 year ban for its fans ripping the stadium apart after the game (what was ure dad doing Carli??). But come on, looking at what squad Bayern had I seriously doubt anyone could have beaten them. It was basically 80% of the team who had won teh World Championship one year before. The greatest goalie, the greatest defender, one of the greatest midfielder and the greatest striker of the time were all part of the same team... |

Yeh you had a great team back then, its a shame we didnt follow our teams in the 70's!!! |

I'm quite satisfied with Bayern's contemporary performances. I started being a fan in 1995...since then: Uefa Cup 1996 Champions League Final 1999 Champions League Victory 2001 Champions League Semifinalists 1995, 1998, 2000 German Champions 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006 ...that's quite an achievement...I think only Madrid and Milan are better :D |
And look what's happened to them of late!
Form is temporary and even the 'greats' fall eventually. Saying that though, if you get to a certain stage where you have so much at stake financially in football that to fall from grace would actually cost more than to buy yourself out of trouble, most BIG clubs are probably beyond falling apart completely (as long as you don't do something silly like, ooo..... I don't know - sell your club to an American in debt up to his eyeballs! I'm hoping this doesn't come back to bite us in the ass one day!) :D |

I have just read that Van Bommel has been suspended for one additional game because of the red card he got against Real and because of his "obscene" gesture while celebrating his goal in Madrid. He will miss both games against AC MILAN which is quite a set-back for Bayern as he developed into an important leader. ...damn it!!!
|
I was just pointing out that Bayern hadn't suffered the same setback in form as the only two clubs who had been more successful you mentioned earlier. They seem to be maintaining it better than the giants of La Liga and Serie A.

In Spain there is always Barca & Real and then even subtop is strong - valencia, sevilla, atletico, in Italy always Milan, Inter & Juve, sub roma, in England always Arsenal & Man unt and now Chelsea, sub Liverpool and whoever i forget Germany always had one and just one very big team. Werder had a while when they could hurt Bayern, there was one or two years where even teams as Kaiserlautern could play for title (probs during bayerns crisis). There isn't real resistance... The quality about Bayern always been is that they play along in Europe without having the same resitance (= practise) in domestic competetion |
Quote:
Dortmund and Leverkusen were class opponents and the Bayern - Dortmund games where always top class derbies. Let's not forget that Dortmund won the Champions League and played the UEFA Cup final whereas Leverkusen beat all English teams to lose against Madrid in the final (while the same year Dortmund lost the UEFA Cup final to Feyenord). I always thought the competition in the Bundesliga was much stronger than in England where only ManU and Arsenal mattered (reffering to the mid 90s to early 00s). Liverpool and Chelsea came in quite recently. Kaiserslautern only made it once (in recent times, 1998) to the title. They came with Otto Rehagel(coach of Greece) from the 2nd league and won it directly. Then they beat Barcelona in the Champions League so it's not like they won it cause Bayern was in a crisis. The difference between Germany and say France is that in Germany there always is competition, only it tends to be quite often a different opponent for Bayern whereas Lyon has no competition at all. |

Anyways geussing we seeing it each a different way. Sure Dortmund was there for a while, Leverkussen did good but I actually ment over longer period say 30 years. Can't imagine any team in Germany even managed to top Bayern's budget for more then 2 years (could be wrong though). France is a laugh, they don't have any team who has been constantly on top, league and budget for more then 6 years, except for Lyon now and they are really lonely at the top. England always had man unt & arsenal. Not sure though about Liverpool, werent they very big in the 80's with Grobbelaar? - could be wrong here also. But agreed England weren't internationaly as top as competition untill mid 90's when foreign players really started there (Cantona, Gullit, Vialli etc). Geuss untill then or few years later your absolutely right about Germany having more competetion, I don't see it nowadays however. Italy gets his downside now, they had a briliant competition in the 80's and 90's always had their top teams, Spain has been in my opinion always a ruled by just two teams, Barca & Real, like Holland with PSV & Ajax... (noticing I don't mention Feyenoord altough they beat Dortmund in final 2002) I really hope for a big competetion for smaller competetion, imagine top 7 germany, top 5 france, top 4 holland, top 2 belgium (altough just Holland & Belgium merging seems more realistic) |

I would say right now, the best league is by far the Premiership followed by the Spanish League. Then joint 3rd place Germany and Italy. |

Well ok agree with Belgium, altough Anderlecht and/or Club Brugge are getting better, and hey I like the Belgiums... Not know enough of France, but could top 3 finish in top 10 Bundesliga? All in all, it would be another top competition - at least better then anyone seperate, lots more income so everyone gains I geuss Bayern Munchen Schalke Werder Bremen Stuttgart Leverkusen Dortmund Ajax PSV Feyenoord AZ Lyon Marseille (?) Monaco (?) Auxerre (?) Anderlecht Club Brugge What do you think, better then Bundesliga at itself? Edit: HSV should be there aswell me thinks |
Quote:
Btw, Ajax has 3 Champions Cups and one Champions League (1995). They beat the shit out of Bayern in the semifinals that year. |

Sar van der Edwin - brilliant Reiziger Michael - never got to this level of that year, bench at PSV now Blind Danny - had his best season in 95 Boer de Frank - same had a good year a Barca after, that's it Rijkaard Frank - was his last year Seedorf Clarence - made it, so 2nd this far Litmanen Jari - Last good season Davids Edgar - made it, 3rd Finidi George - failed at Betis, don't even know what happened to him Boer de Ronald - always been overated Overmars Marc - geuss you can count this one as 4th So from the ones playing in the final against Milan only 4 went further where they were in 95. |
Quote:
what sort of logic is that? "only 4"? 4 is more than you need. Let's say Barca wouldn't have had Deco, Ronaldinho, Eto'O and Puyol last year. What would they have done?? Of course Ajax had a great team back in 1995 and even though the win over Milan came as a surprize it was anything but undeserved. By the way, that was the only time in history that a Romanian refereed the Champions League final :) |

Next to that Barca (and any topteam) has better players then Ajax had besides the toptop players. Ajax just had a amazing year.. |

Sar van der Edwin - your right fantastic goalkeeper Reiziger Michael - played well at Barca for a few year then faded Blind Danny - ok agree on that Boer de Frank - had a few good years with barcelona, the team was poor Rijkaard Frank - he was old nd done by then Seedorf Clarence - more than made it Litmanen Jari - played for barcelona and liverpool, and was fantastic for both Davids Edgar - made it Finidi George - played in england for a while was very good Boer de Ronald - went to rangers what do u expect Overmars Marc - was very good you also forgot kluivert and Kanu both who went on to be stars in other clubs and played at the top level i count 8 players that went on to make it big |
TOMORROW...
AC MILAN - FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN EV I can't wait...My tip is a 1-1 at the San Siro followed by a 2-1 in Munich which makes Bayern move to the semi-finals... I love the Champions League. For me it's more intense than the world cup only that it is spread out over a longer period of time. |
well im not one to boast, but
3-0 to liverpool not bad result by any standered, thats should be us into the semi final PSV just didnt want to know and it cost them big style |
0-1 Steven
0-2 John Arne Riise 0-3 Peter "The Robot" Crouch That´s how it´s done. |
Milan - Bayern 2 - 2.
What a game... SIR VAN BUYTEN what goals he scored, my God. So Bayern is one step in the semi-finals. I am very curious about the game tomorrow. http://www.sport1.de/media/redaktion...ten-daniel.jpg |
Wooohooo Come on Roma lets hope they can hold their lead at Old Trafford and knock scum out
