What the Italian police did was ridiculous but at the end of the day, what can be done? An Italian copper gets killed and there's public outrage but beat the shit out of travelling foreign supporters and that's OK. I hope to god there are serious repercussions for them but I know there won't be - the unfortunate thing is that it'll be taken out on Roma and their travelling fans on Tuesday and it didn't have anything to do with them directly.

Your defense is one of the best in the world and I am not only saying this because Cristian Chivu is there but because it simply plays one of the most elegant defensive styles I have ever seen by any team. Because Roma didn't know how to approach the game. They didnt know whether to attack or defend. They were probably hoping to keep united at bay until half time, maybe pick them off on the break. Because united got an early goal they didnt know what to do and any semblence of a gameplan went out of the window.

United played well, theres no doubting that, but Roma were poor.

Absolutely delightful performance by Man Utd even without some of the big players. Of course Roma didn't know what to do and they were surprised by the early goal, but still Man Utd deserves all the credit, why is it so difficult to say the team played so so well?. I so enjoyed watching yesterday's match and listening to all the comments on the radio/tv.

I don't care who they play against in the next round...if they play like this, they will make it to the finals!!! :D

Ideally, it would be Liverpool Ac Milan final. Beating the mancs in the final would emulate the great night in Istanbul, but losing doesn't bear thinking about.
Plus having the two sets of supporters in one city, flying on the same flights from the same airports, drinking in the same bars, sleeping in the same hotels. Athens would become a bloodbath, people will die.

So, got to hope for the mancs to get a thrashing tonight and Liverpool to secure a 6-0 away win tomorrow and i can sit back and relax in a weeks time.

Man Utd won - ergo, Milan cannot afford anything but a win themselves to go through. If United draw or win, they're through and look how difficult Celtic made it for the Italians to get a goal in their own back yard a few weeks ago.

I'm actually more confident with the second leg agaiinst Milan than I was against Roma because against Roma, we HAD to score.

Yesterday I wanted to take a nap at 5:30 PM and woke up today at 7:30 AM. I can't believe I missed this game. I can't believe it was so close...since Bayern is out, my interest for this competition has dwindled, and this will stay so for the next season as well, especially since we'll only play Uefa Cup. Ah, hope that Chelsea takes the pot home this year.

This semi-final tie had a striking resemblance to Australia's World Cup Qualifier against Uruguay in November 2005. But they hung on, went into extra time and then the dreaded 'elf-meter' (11 metres). A couple of class saves from Mark Schwarzer and they were in!

When it comes to European club football there's no one better to watch than Liverpool, in my opinion. They've got a brilliant set of fans and always provide an exciting game. I think Liverpool - Man Utd final has been on the cards all through the tournament, so here's hoping.

I was very impressed with Liverpool's performance yesterday. I (and hubby) thought they were the best team all the 120 mins. Not sure how Mourinho can come out and say Chelsea deserve to win as they were the best team. I know he needs to keep the good spirit of the team...but he also needs to show he is a professional and accept Liverpool had the best chances all night.

Anyway...congrats to Liverpool and now lets hope Man Utd beats Milan today. I have started praying already!

You must really have no idea about the intensity of hatred the two clubs have. It bad enough when there's 3 points at stake, let alone europes greatest prize. Milan all the way.

I want Milan too and so should all Liverpool fans. Theres no way Ferguson will let Liverpool win it for the 6th time and ram it down United throats. I honestly think if Man U go through tonite the cup is as good as theirs as on their day, they can beat Liverpool.

Liverpool should be more fearful of United though. They can take the knowledge that thy overturned a huge deficit against Milan just a couple of years ago and the psychology would easily go in L'pool's favour.

If it was United though, they know that even if they play well, United have an uncanny knack of snatching victory (as at Anfield when we were completely outplayed and yet still won!) so the psychological advantage would be with United.

Of course I want a United win in the final and the fact that L'pool played their deciding semi first and have already booked their place in Athens is no reason to want United out. If it had been the other way around and United had gone through first, would you say that you'd rather see your team knocked out instead of a potentially heated confrontation in the European Final - I think not.

It's up to common sense and the Greek police on the day to prevent trouble breaking out between sets of supporters, whomever it may be that face Liverpool in 3 weeks time.

Well United just didn't turn up tonight. It was a completely flat and dismal performance that warranted no more than a defeat. United's frailties at the back have been exploited yet again and, if anything is to change, some big spending needs to be done in the summer to get some decent defenders in.

I have to say though that, although it would almost certainly not have changed the result, the refereeing was absolutely shocking. Everything went Milan's way. Add to that the behaviour of some of the Milan players such as Gattuso (the cock!) and the fact that Milan perhaps were lucky to be allowed into the competition at all after the match-fixing fiasco that saw them docked points in the Serie A this season, and you can't help but be left with a bitter taste in the mouth if your a United fan.

Ahh well, c'mon Liverpool! Trounce the f**kers again just like two years ago and put a smile back on my face! :(

Rafa Benitez believes Liverpool will meet Milan in this season's UEFA Champions League final.

The Spaniard has predicted that the two sides could contest the final in Athens in a repeat of the epic showpiece in 2005.

Liverpool face holders and favourties Barcelona in the last 16 and Benitez is confident his troops can cause an upset again like they did against Milan two years ago.

"I think the final will be Liverpool v Milan and that we will win again. It's sure," Benitez told Corriere dello Sport.

Liverpool face the daunting task of Barcelona this week and Benitez has hit out at critics who have ruled out his side's chances of progressing.

"In football there is nothing impossible," added Benitez. "We are ready to astonish you once again.

"Whoever sees us as victims is wrong. We were the same also against Milan in Istanbul's final and to those who see us already beaten by Barcelona, I suggest to see how that match ends."

I can't believe it's a Milan vs. Liverpool final...I would have not expected such a final in 100 years. the advantage of both teams is the "smartness" of their coaches. Where we Man Utd last night? So disappointing. All credit to Milan though, they really wanted it last night and got what they deserved. I can't wait for the final now, it should be ace.
