John Bongiovi- The Power Station Sessions (1980-1983)

I was bored yesterday afternoon and avoiding studying for my final exam, so I decided to go up to the local shops to kill some time! While I was there I had a look in the "Music Shop". Don't ask me why, but I was drawn to look in the Bon Jovi section (even though I already have all their albums)... but I was surprised to find a little treasure stuck amongst all the copies of Bounce they had there! I saw a CD cover with a very long haired 'John', holding his guitar! I was like... OMG! I have never seen, let alone heard about this album before. It was $25 (more than Bounce), and even though I am totally broke, I had to buy it anyway!! The guy behind the counter was like... Is this the guy from Bon Jovi?! I'm like.. Um yeah... and he said that he hadn't even seen it be put on the shelves! Maybe there is a little fairy out there who thought I could do with a little present leading up to my last exam! HAHAHA! I have only listened to one song of it as my CD player is playing up (the one with my first copy of Bounce still stuck in it) and I ended up falling asleep while watching a stupid Michael Jackson special!!

I was just wondering if anyone else has a copy of this CD or whether I really have found a little rare treasure?!

Ta Kell :)

I have it. It is rubbish. It isnt rare, although a single was released from it which I have, it was 'More Than We Bargained For', I suppose that might be quite rare.

I want to know how you can call yourself a fan when all you do is rubbish the band and other people who enjoy their music.

Why don't you just get a life and stop harrassing people on here who are trying to have decent conversations.

krb102 11-16-2002 07:58 AM

You asked a question, I answered it. Are you angry that what you found isn't rare? (If you go into most HMV's in the UK, you will find it.)

If we are talking about true fans, which I don't really like to do, then one might suggest that you aren't a true fan for knowing about this well known album. From your comments, it seems that you believe a fan must like everything the band, and individual members of the band do.

As far as I am concerned, that is the end of my conversation with you, if you reply with the same bullshit as before, I will ignore you, or anybody else for that matter. Goodbye.

It is not rare, I have 4 or 5 different versions of this album meanwhile. Well, it's for sure not a really good album but it is interesting to hear how Jon started. It is not published by Jon but by the Powerstation Studios where these recordings were made. Jon didn't want it to be published but he lost a trial against the owner of the studios (who is is second cousin) because the rights on these recordings are owned by the Powerstation studios.

I have it too!
That was a bit harsh by KRB,
Its not alrounda's fault if they haven't heard of the power station sessions before....it isn't exactly advertised u know, and it definitly didn't deserve a personal attack.

But anyway as far as if its rubbish or not goes....I don't think its rubbish....but thats just my opinion.

Woah! 25$?!?!?!? Good God! I payed the equivelant of about 4$ over here in the UK for it!And it has to be said, that's 4$ I wan't BACK! It's quite easily the most awful Bon Jovi related material I've ever heard! As for it being rare, you'll find 3 or 4 copies of it in most record stores over here.

P.S. I must admit, for this one, I am on KRB's side. You asked a question, he answered it. When you listen to it, you will realise, it's hardly Jon's best work! The definition of a true fan is to appreciate the band for what they are, but also to be free to recognise some second class crap when they churn it out! And this is precisely what the Powerstation years is, though I'm sorry to say it. But don't ask a question if you're only willing to accept the rosy answers. Perhaps you'll like it, we don't know, but personally, I feel you'll be asking for your 25$ back...

Thats fair enough if you actually believe that its crap....

but does every slight difference in opinion have to result in a personal attack?

sure as a fan there is a work that you will like/dislike, and although it isn't at Bon Jovi's usual high quality....I don't think that the album is crap/

Anyway each to their own opinion about the album

i don't say it's totally rubbish... man- this were his first songs! for sure they are everything but worth publishing, but like Christine said- it's interesting
