New Job - New Country (continent)

Hi,

I am so happy at this moment. I got hired for my new job so I can finally leave Holland and live & work in South-Africa. Hallejuh!!!
Was trying to get a job in that region for a year or so and now I got it, a good (european-standard) salary & nice appartment & a ****ing Jeep!
All that studying (wich I hated, not my best time of my life) paid of finally. I so much needed a big change/twist in life...

Well just had to share, gonna visit Amsterdam tonight untill tomorrowmorning and party my balls off....

Congratulations - you sound very happy about the move. Just for the record - I drive a ****ing jeep and I love mine. I've had one for years :)

What sort of job is it? What do you do?

Kathleen

Yes tell us more about the job !

Congrats, you sound so happy :)

Having a job you love is so important in life. I know since i've changed i feel so much better in my life in general. After 4 years working here and there i felt so bored and tired in the end, couldn't go much higher. A change is always good !

And you're moving where you apparently wanted to go, that's great !

Well finally gotten myself again after saturdaynight :)

Currently I work as an controller at a sales unit for Central-Europe for a Finnish company (too keep it local :)

I will start my new job at jan 1st and move into my new place at dec 15th, wich I'm still very thrilled about.
I will do about the same at my new job as now only main difference is that I will work on projects throughout Africa (nigeria, sudan, senegal etc).
The company wich I work for isnt my ideal employer but I couldnt care less at this moments, its a off-shore drillingcompany, wich has in headoffice in South-Africa but work through-out whole of Africa.

I've been visiting South-Africa and some countries in North-Africa the last 8 years or so about twice a year. I love it, life is so pure there can put up a whole story why I like it so much there but main reason is that it is the only place where I can be totally be at ease.
Anyway a few more months!!! :) And only having one problem, how the hell to get my dogs into SA...

TheseDays2005 11-24-2006 06:13 PM

My dog has to go with me. So I informed and apparantly if I take a flight from Holland, my dog should be in quarantaine for 3 weeks (!).
I'm not happy about that.

Anybody know the rules & laws about these sorta things and know if there are any other possibilities??

There will be a cargo-flight wich transport all me belongings, maybe I can transport illegal. not safe probably...

Where did you get that information?

3 weeks is nothing.

check out this site: http://www.southafrica-newyork.net/c...te/animals.htm
it addresses the issue from NY to SA, but the import regs should be the same for any country (or at least the Netherlands). Apparently you need an import permit which takes between 6-8 weeks.....

You really need to get the ball rolling. Most rabies shots need to be given in certain timeframes and you may or may not be able to still fall into it. Ie: A valid rabies certificate obtained at least 30 days prior to your departure. This certificate should not have been obtained more than 12 months or less than 30 days prior to exporting. The vaccine used must be a strain of anti-rabies conforming to a potency standard recognized by the World Health Organization

Yeah i know but the difference is in that my dog has all his vaccins the last few months. So I should give exact the same vaccins that my dog already had 4 weeks ago (reconginzed by the WWO) , so IMO that will be enough as long as I can proof wich imo I can.
I have to me more sober to read it all, I will do that tomorrow. Anything, lots of thanks for the links (different one that I had), it's a big worry for me at this time.
