Halloween
 

Do you celebrate it? do you like it? I just found out that Irland even has a day off for it too!!! I think it would be nice to have a day off for Halloween in England aswell.

Nope, not celebrating any of it, when is it anyway? It's not quite a traditional Dutch holiday, although more and more people seem to be celebrating Halloween around here. These days some shops / tv-stations etc have a Halloween-theme around these days, but I don't think it used to be like that when I was little. At least - not as far as I remember!

Its on 31st October , i think we've always had it here and i love it :D Plus they normaly start showing loads of horror movies on TV .I got some pumpkin lights today :)

Everyone should have the day off! I was supposed to have a class on Halloween night this year but luckily my teacher cancelled it. :D

I still need to figure out my costume though, better get working on that!

We have a seemingly similar celebration in parts of the country, also with kids go door-to-door collecting sweets while singing songs and stuff on the night of the 11th of November (called 'Sint-Maarten'), but that's totally unrelated to Halloween apparently :D.

But I really enjoy that time of the year, days getting shorter, the lights on the streets, the atmosphere. For me that always starts with Sint-Maarten in November, pretty much a Halloweeny-atmosphere I guess :).

I wouldn't mind celebrating it if we did it like the USA does( or at least how they celebrate it on tv shows/films), but here in england we just get a gang of "hoodies" walking round with mugging all the little kids that have made an effort.

I want to go on that parade!! it looks fun :)

Sara , i think its more or less the same as Halloween and you do the same things aswell especialy with the door to door knocking .We call it trick or treat :)

We decorate the inside of the house for Halloween. Usually we go out to eat that night, or hang out with friends. My brother and his friends (who are in their late teens) usually go trick-or-treating, which is the antithesis of not handing out candy (like we do).

Don't like it and don't celebrate it. And I hate people around here who celebrate it just because they see it in American films.

Halloween goes in the same bracket as Valentines day, St Patricks Day etc. Its just a marketing ploy to make money. Id never say Happy Halloween I think ur right Keeper people see it in American films and follow the lead.

Its for kids, If I have them il do the whole Halloween fun thing. But it wont be something il be "celebrating" this year. (unless wetherspoons have an offer on green beer or something http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/images...es/biggrin.gif
