WOW this group is a 10!
I was just wondering at what point where any of you 'hooked' on to the band. I don't necessarily mean the first time you heard the band or the first time you bought one of their albums. I'm talking about the point that you knew that you were going to be loyal to the band for a long time. For me it was the end of 1994. Always was just released and I really liked it so I bought Crossroads. At that point, I always liked the band but did not think much of them....In fact the only CD i had was New Jersey. 6 months later I saw them at Wembley and that was it. Within a month I owned the rest of their catalogue.

Difficult to say since my fandom didn't start with one specific song or something. I started to become interested in the band with the Keep the faith-album and my interest didn't stop. But I can't name one specific moment, song, video or something. It needs more than one song to make me a fan. I found out that I liked the earlier albums, too, which was extraordinary for me. Usually I like one album of a band but not many others. With BJ it was different.
I didn't know them earlier exept of the song Runaway. |
knew the big hits....but i was 8 or 9 and my mate was gettin rid if his cassettes and he gave me some compilations.....i heard "without love" and went and bought slippery and realised i knew loads of tunes of it cos my cousins were alot older than me and played them,,,,
bought always as a single then crossroads then all of them aged 9! |
I knew right after listening to the album KTF. I bought it for one song (Bed or Roses) and after listening to the whole thing i knew this was a band i would love forever. Going out in 1993 and getting NJ and SWW and building the back catalog only made my love for the band stronger. I've never looked back or stopped listening to them since i discovered them...........

For me it was when I saw them live for the first time. Giants Stadium 1989. I liked them up until that point, but didn't have any albums or anything. I immediately went out and bought all four albums and then saw them in concert again a couple of months later.

keep the faith (single) --> keep the faith (album)

I was introduced by my son who played New Jersey - very loudly - in his bedroom. Lay Your Hands on Me hooked me first. I didn't get to see a live show though until Feb. 1993 though. I was very pregnant for the Giants show in June of 1989 and I didn't go (something I have always regretted by the way - I should have gone anyway).
I was hooked permanently by their live show. I have always judged music as something to be experienced live - not just tracks to be layered in the studio. The first live show blew me away - they sounded as good if not better than the albums - and I've been going back for more ever since. :) Just for the record - keep in mind that I was 40 years old the first time I heard them in 88. I wasn't a kid - I just love my rock and roll. Kathleen |
