Saddam Hussein to be killed

cnn.com 5/11/2006

"Saddam Hussein was sentenced Sunday to death by hanging for his role in a brutal crackdown nearly 25 years ago in Dujail. A five-member tribunal is meeting amid heavy security and sweeping curfews in Baghdad and elsewhere, as authorities brace for violent reactions."

Yep, good things happens to bad people.

This is going to make things even worse, IMO. And anyway, death penalty is never ever the right course, however much of a villain the person in question is.

I'm against death penelty - with no exceptions.

I think its the right thing to do. Especially when he has taken thousands of innocent lives over many years. Is it right that he goes unpunished, because people in this world believe capital punishment is against human rights. What about the human rights of the dead?

My points exactly. He has even asked for a different way of death. Did those who he killed have any choice? Dickhead. He had this coming for years. Good riddance!

Believe me, I'm most certainly not sayin he should be put in a hotel suite and be fed on strawberries and champagne. In fact, I do believe that death penalty is the easy way out for criminals. A life sentence is much more painful because it actually makes you dwell on what you have and have not done.

And I'm also against death penalty because the state is in no way capable of making a fair decision and because by killing "legally" they are commiting exactly the same crime the person committed. The deaths under Hussein's regime were as "legal" or illegal as Hussein's will be - they will be all of them ratified by the law.

I agree.

Not that he doesn't have it coming (and so much more), but we shouldn't have been the ones to take him down and put him before a court of Iraqis. What's happened to him is unjust, but he deserves it. Boy, does that sound like an oxymoron.
