the meaning of dreams?

I think some dreams have something to do with our subconscious thoughts. not necesarilly that they mean something is going to happen ala those books you get that say: dreaming of X means you're going to come into money, Dreaming of Y means love is on the horizon.

BUT

i do think there's some sort of subconscious meaning to some of them. I got thinking about this because I had a dream last night about a guy I know.

In the past this guy has majorly wronged me and I do dream about him now and again and in everyone I'm either hurting him physically or emotionally.

The thing is last night I had a dream where I was buying him drinks and being cool with him. In the dream i thought to myself, I'll never trully like the guy again but I'm past the point of caring about hurting him.

The interesting thing is that recently my personal circumstances have dictated that I no longer have a reason for wanting to hurt him, I'm actually pretty content with everything regarding our past....

anyone think the dreams a sign that subconsciously my brain is telling me this or is it just a random one off and I'll be back to terrorising him next time round?

IMO, it's a one-off. Dreams are just random information dumps. No need reading anything into them unless that's what floats your boat.

I don't think so. Just because many people don't try and control their minds, does not mean that they CAN'T do it. You are right though, our minds are a damn lot more powerful than many people realise.

well let me put it this way in a way i can relate to

lets talk about it in a sporting context ok?

the 100m race in the olympics, the final right?

all the athletes are all at the top of their game, 100% fit and all equal physically. but only one can win

why is this??

its all in the mind, if you want to win your mind will boost you and you will strive to win and will most probably win.

although if inhabition occurs and your dominant response isnt practiced and you are new to the situation you will begin to have negative thoughts and your mind will trick you into thinking you cannot win.

therefore the winner is not necissarily the physical champion but more the mental champion.

at the end of the day our mind controls our body more than anyone could imagine from the slightest movement to the biggest decision ever our mind is always there.

just like in dreams sometimes we loook at things at a glance and although we dont realise it our mind will store it and process it even though you didnt conciously pay any attention. ever had that feeling about when youve lost your keys and you know you have seen them somewhere earlier but cant remember? thats what i mean.

which leads me onto dreams.

now you may not agree and probably wont but i think that dreams are our minds way of letting out all that noise (unuseful stimuli) out of its system when the body is relaxing so that it can incrase its capacity for the day ahed.
thats why our dreams are sometimes very obscure and diverse because its just all that random noise that we pick up being merged together and used up.

I love what Mulder said about dreams; "A dream is an answer to a question we haven't figured out how to ask."
