Uuh, I WAS around back then. This is maybe the 3rd time where you say to me something in the line of 'you weren't here then'.
And for the 3rd time I have to tell you that I was reading this board from the start, board version 1... prob longer than you, so please don't start like that. I'm not here for a year or two (!) as you say. My other ID, think it was Captaincrash - I took that name when we had to re-register for this board (from the old board)

I hope this is the last time I have to explain this to you. And I hope this is the last time where you feel that yourself is something 'more' then people who are not as long on this board as you (not myself included)

Just didn't remember why (but was member of that forum). And please tell me: where am I pushing and where am i just wondering??
and btw only official stuff is illegal

BTW, anything that someone owns the rights to is illegal to share without permission. Like every TV-performance, every radio-performance, every studio recorded song... Only thing you are allowed to share (and only in some countries) are live performances that have been recorded by amateru equipment during a concert, and even those are usually copyrighted by the arenas they were recorded in. So, you're about as wrong as you can be.

They've even taken down tablature sites recently, because lines and numbers that form the tablatures are too close to the original and therefore are a copyright infringement. There are hundreds of fan sites that have gone down because record companies have sued them. There are torrent-sites that have had their admins arrested for sharing "unofficial" music.

Do some research and don't believe everything you read.

Well I believe you, could be right, but howcome fansites (just look at the RHCP & Live) are allowed to post any link as long as it's not official (ie on a official cd/cdsingle whatever).
Also at their official websites you are allowed to post any links, but not official. The official website explains what I said in a sticky thread. Als people on that board are saying the above, so as far as I know, your just as wrong (or right) as them.
Or it's a recordcompany thingy....

Anyway therefore I was wondering if maybe things has changed since it was closed last. But apparantly not.

Beacause the record company doesn't own the rights to "unofficial" material. They don't care.

Links aren't illegal, files are.

It's very easy to find out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright and remember that copyright laws differ from country to country.

Yeah I know about copyrights, got to do with it at work. But I'm not talking about the offical cd stuff but about the unoffical stuff, wich they don't care about

Ok, but the reason that it was closed was because it was illegal?

So geussing links were allowed back then....
I'm probably very slow but if it was closed because it was illegal like Mouse says but links were allowed, what was the problem then?
Too many and contineus links to 'official' material?

I don't think I'm at any higher plateau because I've been here awhile. I keep forgetting that you've been here since the beginning because you SAY you've been here forever, then you start threads like this and ask what happened then. So it's just confusing and it's understandable that I would forget. If you were there, you'd kinda know, you know what I mean?

again, I forgot, I was member of the forum because you had to be in order to get access to it but I barely used it....

still don't know why....
