somewhere nice in europe for january?
hopefully between exams and the term starting back ill get a chance to go away for a few days and cheap flights withstanding ive got a bunch of places im looking at.
places ive not been but fancy: krakow: cheap as feck to get drunk and stay in. nuff said riga: some cheap airlines have just started flying to estonia and it sounds pretty cool but im not sure how expensive it is. im positive someone in berlin told me it was really expensive compared to other baltic states. anyone? gothenburg or stockholm: cheaper to fly there and back than it is to get a bus to newcastle :-D BUT the prices over there will eat up that saving rapidly... barcelona: ive never been but a bunch of my friends have and didn't like it. i'd still like to make my own mind up but i dunno. places i've not been and kinda fancy: dublin: expensive and i get the feeling i wouldn't like it for some reason but i'd at least like to see it. maybe a bit cold and wet. not much of a culture change either paris: see above minus the culture change. pisa: as in where the tower is. it's a bit random but im assuming it'll be a bit warmer but i reckon it could be quite expensive. places i've been but wouldn't mind seeing again: london - tops this list. i love the place but might be a bit crap if no one comes with me. prague: love it too but this would be the 3rd time ive seen it within a year and ot'll be really cold and wet. amsterdam: the only reason that would stop me going here is how easy it is to lose the plot. rain isn't an issue when you're indoors getting high all day :-) or......... i could find somewhere up north to go with a guitar to write songs but it'd probably cost me more anyways and it'd be miserable weather-wise. anyone been to any of the places i havent and know anything that could sway me towards or away from it? particularly riga and pisa because i dont know alot about them at all.... |
well my advice is stay away from Norway! im heading there in Jan and the price is ****ing out of this world! its like 7 quid for one pint! unless you have lots of money then come on up! lots of kopperberg to go round!

you've been misinformed about norway my friend. it's only £6 a pint :-) everywhere seems to be 66krone per beer (note it's not even pints) AND 11krone = a quid. if you want to drink and arent rich you're probably going to have to starve a little as the food's just as expensive. BUT for every £3000 you save on a regular big mac meal that both equals more money for beer AND you've not eating so you need less beer to get drunk. :-) where abouts in norway you going? |

im heading to Volda. its part of uni exchange kinda thing! going on the 4th of jan till 31st of march. getting a grant and all to cover costs! well part of it anyway. im going to try and show the norway people that irish people really are the best drinkers! as well has skiing and sitting in hot springs! and of course playing a bit of music along the way! |
enjoy but you will be very hard pressed to drink the way you do back home over there.
i went to bergen a few years back and it was a very sober one :'-( still a very cool country though and half of the people are really nice. |

are you trying to say that i drink a lot of beer! my dear friend please dont play down my alcholism! lol it would be hard anywhere to drink like i drink here! God i love being a student ! yea i heard they are all meant to be really nice! im really looking forward to it! maybe ill try and sucduce a couple of Norway women while im over there lol! |
i said half of them are nice. the other half seem to be very ignorant for some reason.
the women are the same, half are huge haggard old crones and the other half are little blonde scandinavian nymphettes :-) what modules you going to do over there history wise? while we're at it, i can't help but notice you've not said anything about dublin.... can i assume it's shit then? |
If you drag your arse to Gothenburg or Stockholm, I can buy you a beer (or two). You can get a beer for about 40 SEK, which is like 3 quid.
|
hmmmm £3 is still about £2.90 more for a beer than krakow.....
if i go somewhere myself it probably will be sweden but just now im trying to rally some troops for krakow or riga. where abouts in sweden are you? it'd be cool to have a beer with you but stockholm and gothenburg are at the opposite side of each other.... |
