Dawn asked for a language filter quite a while back and was reemed about it. If it's okay for any other user to throw in curse words, then it's okay for a mod to do it as well. Personally, I'd rather there were filters so I could get online at work. ;) But that's not the general consensus of the board so it's not going to happen.
Language isn't the issue; it's the insults and bickering that takes some threads into downward spirals. If someone calls another user an "ugly ****ing bitch" they'd get an infraction. They'd get the same infraction if they called the user an "ugly pucking witch."
It's not an exact science because behavior isn't an exact science. The moderators have been trusted to have the judgement to make decisions. We're a diverse group of people so you can't expect us to react the same way. We're not robots. We don't always agree. We do usually reach a consensus.
We're not around 100% of the time, so some things get out of hand while no one is online. Sometimes it's a fine line to walk between letting things carry on and closing the thread or removing the posts. We're not here to maintain a police state, yet it seems like some of you are asking for that. Then you'd bitch about it if you got it.
But you don't need specific rules and guidelines of "This word gets an infraction" and "this one doesn't." You're not going to get specific guidelines because if you registered for this board, you're supposed to be old enough to monitor your own behavior and treat other people with respect.
It also appears that some users simply WANT to be banned, like it would be a sort of accomlishment to be the one person who went far enough to get kicked out of Dry County. Not happening. There will be no permanent bans from this website.
Treat each other the way you'd want to be treated in real life. That's your guideline. ;)
