Have A Nice Day at Live 8
I was just watching Bon Jovi play at Live 8 on youtube there now and had a thought. Does anybody think it was wrong of Bon Jovi to use a charity event like Live 8 to promote Have A Nice Day which was just on the brink of release? Would it not have been more in the spirit of the event to have played a well known hit instead of something which nobody had ever heard? It just seems like a sly way to give the song exposure before release in an attempt to boost sales, and therefore boost their bank accounts. Anybody else agree?

What??? AS I recall, the band did play one of their biggest hits ever Prayer so at this event so...... HAND was the new single it was already out on the Radio and every band I've ever known that has a new single out on the airwaves plays it at an appearance. As for lining anyones pockets I'm guessing that Jon and the band wrote a hefty check to Bono and the relief effort that day .

Jon was asked something about why he didnt give a speech during the songs like everyother artisits and if i recall correcrtly he said that everything was summed up in the 2nd verse of HAND. Thats one of the reasons they played it.

No, i remember seeing it/hearing it for the first time and it was such a great surprise ~ one i was not expecting. I don't think it was sleazy of them to play a new song at all. They had this great kick ass new song all ready to go why would they not play it at an even such as Live 8???

Other artists played a new song from their album. I think that bon jovi used the plataform to promote the new album. I remember that they play itīs my life and the old version of have i nice day when they recieve the awards in 2004 from the american awards.
