What If?

i was jusst wondering if SSW and NJ were realised now instead of 1986/1987 would it have had the same impact?

the same for GNR with AFD
Nirvana with Nevermind

would these albums made the bands the way it did back in the 80s?

Nevermind was released in 1991, not the 80s ;).

corse it bloody wouldnt you twit

It's a whole different cultural era. Same goes for if the Beatles or Elvis started out now rather than 50 yrs ago, theyd seem tame in comparison to whats on the go today. But then, theres always the circular agruement that if Elvis and co never formed back then if we'd even have half the music we do now - things would be different for sure.

Slippery didnt exactly change much in the way that Appetite or Nevermind are believed to anyway.

Mind you, if Bon Jovi had formed today, and released Slippery with an updated Crush-esque sound production to it i doubt it would still have the same impact and sell 20million like it did back in the 80s.

With those sounds and everything... no chance. But I think the songs from those albums would still hit through... just little trimming would be needed...
Well... Social Disease... that was out of the time even in 80s.

Living_on_my_Hair 12-29-2006 10:53 PM

Obviously they would need to be updated in terms of the 'sound' and the production etc if they were released today, but a good song is a good song and the melody is still there i guess. Prayer is a hit no matter wat era, but no way would Bon Jovi achieve mega-status now if they were to release Slippery/NJ in todays market.

people woud sit back and think who are those daft twats wearing scarves and leather pants, this isnt the 80s no more

but music wise, it would kick todays music up the arse and inspire some more decent music

saying that if it was released todays bands like bowlin for soup, nickelback, pink etc would be around so you know bit of a balance

daft question IMO

Good point... though I would want to see Bon Jovi in the Icon-show where today's bands would perform their songs...
