Most shocking event in 2006

Don't know if we've had this already but what shocked you the most in 2006??? The first thing that springs to mind for me is Steve irwin's death.. still can't believe that man is gone.. anyway, how about you?

The foiled plot to bring down those planes in London last August. Perhaps because it happened while I was in London and lived through much of the uncertainty.

Saddam Hussein's execution.

ETA's permanent cease-fire and then their latest attack on December 31, which killed two people.

Since all the insane political things going on in the world usually fail to surprise me, I'd also have to say Steve Irwin's death. That really did shock me.

Ditto. But on a personal level, the most shocking thing for me had to be my golf game. It was incredible! People actually knew who I was towards the end of the season!

I'm right there on Steve Irwins death. I still can't believe it...I was so upset after all of that and it just didn't seem like it could be true to me.

HAHA, nice one! In my few months back in Australia, I hit the golf course when I could in between all the things happening. On my very first hole, I sunk a birdie from 2 metres off the green and it went pear-shaped from there! :p Managed to find a little bit of form later on, but I am glad to have re-discovered my love of playing the game.

So Ryan, how many years will it be before you have a 3-shot lead on the final day of the Masters coming into Amen corner?? lol All the best!!

what have all you guys with that irwin? he made astonishingly bad films and had a damn dangerous job. i don't wonder about someones death who has breakfast with sharks and lunch with alligators.

about beckham: for getting paid 1million per week i would play for whatever club in this world- even bayern munich or chelsea.

my most shocking event was the girls (whose name i've forgotten) return after 8 years being locked away by some nerd in vienna. austrian media is making a hype around her as if it was virgin mary's return (at least she kinda looks like her) so i don't bother with that story anymore.

some other austrian student would say that the most shocking event in 2006 was that they voted for someone who said he'd cut off our university fees if he gets chancellor and then he didn't after he was elected. but a lying socialist politician isn't really that shocking to me...

definately in the wrong thread....

Aren't you in the wrong thread for most of what you just said??
