My Lyrical Confusion
Ok, I've heard numerous Bon Jovi songs where I think I know what they're saying, but the lyrics say otherwise, but the song still sounds totally different. Such a song is Captain Crash and the Beauty Queen from Mars. The lyrics read "They were shooting for the stars" but I hear "He was looking like a star." Then there's other songs like I Want You which has lyrics in the CD booklet which don't even appear in the song (there's a line that reads, "I may have built for you a dream house." Where is that in the song? I sure don't hear it. I know there's a couple others like this, however I can't recall them at this moment. I don't know if anything like this has been asked in the past (if so, I apologize), but does anyone else have this problem?

I have an educated guess about the difference between the lyric in books and the lyrics in songs. They often change songs or lyrics while recording them. However, the lyrics have to be copyrighted prior to the booklets being printed. Therefore, whatever lyric version was copyrighted is the one that will be printed in the booklet or distributed in whatever fashion. They don't have time to re-copyright the lyrics before the booklet has to go to the printers. That seems logical to me!

I suppose so
Yes, that does seem logical (I guess I just never thought of that). Thanks for the help!

Yup. Becky's right. IMO, the lyrics ussually change when they play it live.
I think it depends on the situation or their mood. (remember when they played 'It's my life-accoustic/reggae version'? ..."like Bob Marley said, I did it my way"...) |

You know, thatīs exactly what I thought it was. :) And still before reading this, I thought it was that. :? |
