Dave's Second Microphone
 

Does anybody know what it's for? I can't remember ever seeing him use it. It looks like Richie's talkbox mic........

Maybe its for when he (once in a blue moon) gets to sing a verse or two of In These Arms?

Or maybe its some magical quasi-mystical mic that lets him sound like a 20yr old again so he can reach those high backing notes in prayer..?

Nah, he uses his normal mic for those.........the backing notes are exactly that, backing notes ie. they're not sung live by anyone.......

Dave can reach every note even with his original voice. I'll bet Dave's voice is in much better shape than Jon's and it is just a matter of time when Dave replaces Jon and begins his career as a lead singer of BJ.
Then Richie changes his instrument from guitar to piano cause his fingers are so chubby he can't tab them anymore...
Tico is fired from the band because he continuously keep coming to stage naked and he gets the audience go too wild...
Jon has then 2 places to go; behind the drums of guitar... He obviously takes Richie's guitar cause he remembers how auedience went wild in Manchester when he played the solo of I'd Die For You (though the audience cheered for Richie's unbelievable big belly)...
Then Hugh conquers the drums cause who is he kidding; it has always been playback...

But yes... you might be right about the Dave's mic...

I think that's the mic that he can talk to the stage crew to about raising levels and what not. I think they all have second mic's and since Daves rig isn't exactly portable, the mic is stationary.

I never thought of that actually, you're probably right. On one of the Giants (2006) bootlegs you can see Richie talking to Chris (I presume) through his mic behind him.

So yeah I guess you're right, cheers!

I've heard Jon say in interviews that he has a second mic to talk to the crew and I believe there's a bootleg, Buffalo of the Bounce tour, that you can hear him using quite clearly.
