Shows the passion in their performances and Rob Thomas's flawless live vocals.

Downfall... one of my absolute favourite MB20 songs. Even better live!

Sounds very much like The Calling. Not bad. Can see how they would be more appealing Stateside than the UK

A hell of a lot better than The Calling though.

TwinFan 09-11-2012 01:48 AM

This is another performance that particularly rocks. Possibly my favorite song by them.

And a few more hits, too.

M20 are awesome band, Downfall is my fav. song. Push is also not bad, beside Long day

samboraisgodUK 09-11-2012 11:47 AM

Basically, everyone needs to get their only live DVD. It's my favourite concert DVD by some distance.

S'funny as that was the gig that made me a MB20 fan :D I thought they were fantastic!

So I won Matchbox Twenty tickets for the iTunes festival!

But because my sister is a f*cking spaz she doesn't check her emails often enough and we missed the 72 hour deadline by 4 hours.

Cunt.

VanJovi 09-12-2012 11:26 PM

No luck with Sheperds Bush tickets :(

No luck with Itunes Festival tickets :(

Really gutted now.

Peterson 09-13-2012 02:49 AM

A girl I 'know' through twitter just won tickets to the Sheperds Bush Empire gig for simply posting pics of her copies of North on twitter with a #FoundTwentyLDN hashtag.

Wish it'd been me lol

Peterson 09-13-2012 02:57 AM

On another note, MB20 have started releasing song packs for the Rock Band games on PS3/Xbox360/Wii.

First pack came out today featuring Bent, How Far We've Come and She's So Mean

Might need to get myself a copy of Rock Band!

I saw that, lucky her!

Itunes festival steaming on itunes, gonna be good :)

ticos_stick 09-14-2012 09:29 PM

I've let the album sink in and I don't think it's very good. Certainly not near the previous efforts. It lacks the earnest and soulful edge that makes Matchbox Twenty what they are. It just feels like a Rob Thomas solo album.

The Way is great though, really enjoy that one.

Whilst I actually really like the album, I know exactly where you're coming from. My first thought was that it was just like Cradlesong part II. Not as good as previous efforts but still good nonetheless.

The Way is brilliant, I love Kyle's voice on it. I don't know why I like it so much as the lyrics are annoyingly repetitive, there's just something about it. I still think the bridge in How Long is one of the best bridges ever too.

Exact same boat. It took a little time for it to sink in but then it really grabbed me.

Peterson 09-15-2012 03:05 AM

Same here, loved a few of the songs at first, but others have taken time to sink in. The only songs i'm not too keen on are Like Sugar and Straight For this Life. Still like them, just depends on my mood whether I skip them or not.

Years its a big shame for me. For some reason I thought getting back together with MB20 would bring the old style back. But this is the same old commercial pop shut that Rob did when solo. I miss the soulful, moody music of before with the gritty edge, big disappointment to see them sell out like Bon Jovi.

Thunderstrucker 09-15-2012 03:30 PM

After listening to North I downloaded the previous albums and now I find myself playing the album Mad Season more then North as it just has more finished songs on it in my opinion. North isn't bad but Mad Season is definitely better.

I also must say I am not a big fan of MB20 in general and 'discovered' them when She's So Mean was released as a single.

I salute you,
TS

ticos_stick 09-15-2012 04:24 PM

More Than You Think You Are is easily their best album IMO.

Thunderstrucker 09-15-2012 04:29 PM

Only listened to that one once. I think Bright Lights really stands out.
Have to give it more listens to see what's my opinion on that album.
MB20 is not completely a band I will listen a lot to but just a band to pop up every now and then in my iTunes-library.

I salute you,
TS

You need to listen again then and head straight for Downfall! If you like Shes So Mean then Disease is on that level too.

Completely agree. What really shows that is how on the Live DVD they play the entire album (minus the bonus tracks) and every single song really works and is awesome live. Incredible album, by far their best. The others are great too, which says a lot.

It's taken me this long to twig that "I Believe In Everything" is not unreminiscent of The Stones "Ruby Tuesday". Not that's that's a bad thing!

Still loving all 5 bonus tracks-have them on repeat more than the album itself!

TwinFan 09-16-2012 06:24 PM

So with the bringing of the new album, I've been listening to a lot of Matchbox 20 in general, and I'm really beginning to realize (again!) how amazing this band is. Long Day and Bright Lights are two of my favorite songs ever.

When are they gonna announce the American Tour? I need to see this band live.

Long Day is ****ing great, as is Bright Lights too. Let's face it, most of their songs are.

samboraisgodUK 09-16-2012 10:52 PM

Lovely acoustic performance of Overjoyed as we've all seen before BUT here's the thing I need help with.

What the hell are the chords in the chorus? I can play it up until then but then I have no chance. I just need a breakdown of each chords if anyone can figure them out. I've also figured out that the b string is tuned up to c too (100% sure)

Kuba80BJ 09-17-2012 01:29 AM

Very good album. So far my favourites are definitely these three:
“I will” – beautiful song. I love that solo instrumental part in the middle. Can’t get it out of my head all day.
“English Town” – I love the verses. Such a great “dark” sound and that piano. Ahh, just perfect. And those trumpets at the end of the song are fantastic. Short but are like a cherry on the cake.
“Sleeping at the wheel” – fantastic chorus, love the melody and the percussions.

I like the lead single very much too. Very catchy. “Parade” is also one of the favourites.
Still, none of them beats “Downfall” which is my fav song by MB20 but still a strong album indeed and a nice listen in the awaiting for Richie’s album :)

TwinFan 09-17-2012 04:33 AM

Just listened through More Than You Think You Are. What a ****ing brilliant album. Easily their greatest.

And Downfall is definitely a standout.

TwinFan 09-18-2012 03:06 AM

Yeah, I don't really know why it took me so long to appreciate Downfall. Amazing shit.

Thunderstrucker 09-19-2012 12:24 PM

No dates for Holland yet. What do you guys think? Will they come eventually?

Esther 09-19-2012 11:21 PM

ticos_stick 09-19-2012 11:33 PM

It's available on catch up and will probably be on TV at some point so there's plenty of chances to see it.
