They played most of More Than You Think You Are, nice.

Good long show, bring on the tour.

Hopefully as I couldn't follow the streaming yesterday...:(

Esther 09-20-2012 10:22 PM

I saw up to the encore, because stupid class was starting. LOL

Found this guy has some of the show, says he will be adding more soon. LINK

on Facebook Matchbox Twenty just shared ways to re watch the show.

TwinFan 09-21-2012 12:50 AM

****. They are amazing live. I tried to watch the show on iTunes, but it was miserable with buffering. It'll be up on YouTube soon, which is good.

Kinda interesting (and cool) seeing Rob play guitar when singing.

It was unwatchable on iTunes for me until I went into the preferences and realised it was set to 1080p streaming. At 720p it was fine, not sure if you might have had the same issue.

I enjoyed it. Not too sure about the ex drummer marching around the stage with his guitar while looking all grumpy.

Walkerboy 09-21-2012 01:17 PM

I was too busy with other stuff to even remember this was being shown.
Will have to take a look for it this weekend.

As for the album - didn't like it.
Personally I consider it to be their weakest.....

And to all those who rate Downfall as their best track - TOTALLY AGREE!!!!

I believe you are talking about Paul Doucette, if you watch some of their other live stuff when he plays guitar, he acts all grumpy. It's just the way he acts when performing, like Huey standing still.

Yeah, Paul Doucuette, forgot his name.

I know he's covering the place left by Adam Gaynor but he just doesn't fit from where I'm standing. He's a bit sloppy on the ol' guitar too.

Got to agree with you there, he should stick to playing drums, he's a ****ing awesome drummer. It's not very often I watch a band live or on a live DVD and REALLY enjoy watching the drummer, but on the MB20 DVD that's been mentioned several times he's an absolute joy to watch

I agree, also. They already have the guy playing guitar, ukelele, keyboards, and whatever else as a touring musician, and Rob can play guitar too. While that second part is essential in many of their songs, they have 2 people who can cover it.

Watch older clips, Paul is pretty great drummer.

He's called Matt Beck. Being left handed, he's the only person I've ever seen live to play a right handed guitar upside down, NOT re-strung.. just upside down. He tours with Rob on his solo stuff too. He's a really nice guy actually, I spoke to him for a bit at one of Rob's solo gigs.

ticos_stick 09-22-2012 12:53 AM

Paul is indeed a very accomplished drummer. As a drummer myself I was quite sad to see him leave his rightful place to fill a pretty uninspired position.

He did play drums on one song in the itunes gig -

Irishshin 09-22-2012 01:20 AM

Loved the itunes show, really looking forward to seeing them live.
Forgot how good Mad Season is, been listening to it since the show :)

Irish singer Mick Flannery does the same thing - plays the right handed guitar upside down. Its pretty cool to watch :)

It sounds like he's the Bobby Bandiera of this world (but doing a better job of it)

So in the course of 3 hours in the car last night, I heard Push, How Far We've Come, and She's So Mean twice.

samboraisgodUK 10-13-2012 03:00 PM

Put Your Hands Up was just on BBC Radio 2, interesting choice to play... Next single?

Did Overjoyed ever get a proper video or just the promo one?

Peterson 10-13-2012 09:53 PM

As far as I know Overjoyed is next single, they wee filming the video in London the day(s) after the iTunes festival gig.

Might just be the new US single though. And if Put You're Hands Up was to be the next UK sine, surely they'd have played it at the 2 London gigs?

Captain_jovi 10-14-2012 01:02 AM

They filmed videos for both songs.

Yeah, just seen a pic they posted on twitter from the Put Your Hands Up video. Wierd single choice.

Captain_jovi 10-19-2012 12:41 AM

Is it just me or does anyone get a Broken Promise Land vibe from English Town?

TwinFan 10-22-2012 06:49 AM

There's some clips on YouTube from their first show in Melbourne. The stage looks pretty cool.

sweetmisery 10-22-2012 08:15 AM

Loving "Radio".

TwinFan 10-26-2012 01:37 AM

So what is everyone's opinion on the album after a while? I just don't really listen to it. The only songs that I ever really play are She's So Mean and occasionally Parade. However, I've been listening to More Than You Think You Are a hell of a lot lately. That album has grown to be tied for my favorite album of all time, tied with Keep the Faith and Achtung Baby. 12 great tracks there, plus the bonus track is pretty good too.

Thunderstrucker 10-26-2012 10:39 AM

I have the same. I haven't listened to the album for a while. Mostly because I like Mumford and Son's Babel a lot more but also because most tracks just don't give me the feeling I should play them. Some good tracks on it but it didn't grow on me I thought it would.

I salute you,
TS

I do like North and listen to it a fair bit but More Than You Think You Are is just out of this world, every song is fantastic. I can't think of a more solid album by anyone.

TwinFan 10-27-2012 05:29 AM

Here's the set from the other night.

Parade
Bent
Disease
She's so mean
How far we've come
3am
Real world
Our song
Overjoyed
If you're gone
All your reasons
Long day
Back to good
I will
Unwell
So sad so lonely
I'll believe you when
English town
The way
Bright lights
Sleeping at the wheel
Put your hands up
Girl like that
You're so real
Push

It also appears that Put Your Hands Up may be the next single. I wonder what happened to Overjoyed.

Terrible, terrible music video. BUT, the good news is that they seem to be releasing Overjoyed as well... Confused as hell about this.

anyway, https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.n...09565137_n.jpg, the Overjoyed music video is out on 1st November. Seeing as this music video actually has the band in it I'm guessing they'll be putting more weight behind this than Put Your Hands Up.

TwinFan 10-28-2012 05:59 AM

OK, good. Put Your Hands Up is garbage. Overjoyed is enjoyable.

When are they gonna announce some more tour dates, damnit!

sweetmisery 10-28-2012 08:31 AM

That video is retarded. lol. No MB20 around, unless they made a cameo dancing in the background.

There was a shot of an early MB20 video on the tv, that was it.

Still listen to it quite a bit, not the album as a whole, but I have a playlist of all Matchbox Twenty albums, so kind of listening to all of them equally.

Songs from it I love are:

Parade
She's So Mean
Overjoyed
English Town
Sleeping At The Wheel
Waiting On A Train
I Don't Wanna be Loved

The rest of the album is ok, not as good as previous efforts, but I still want to listen to it. The only songs I normally skip are Like sugar and Straight For This Life, just depends on my mood. Also don't seem to mind Put Your Hands Up as much as most of you. Not watched the video yet, but gather there aint been a lot of effort put into it?

Thunderstrucker 10-28-2012 11:34 PM

Sleeping at the Wheel is one of the best tracks if not the best track on North in my opinion.

I salute you,
TS

Butters 10-29-2012 02:10 AM

I can't say I listen to the album as a whole anymore but there's a few songs I really love on it; Parade, Overjoyed, I Will, Sleeping at the Wheel, and I Believe in Everything.

A few others are likable enough (She's So Mean, Waiting on a Train, English Town, Radio) and the rest are completely forgettable.

Handful of great songs, but a pretty poor album. Worst of all MB20/Rob Thomas efforts, IMHO.

Peterson 10-29-2012 09:40 PM
