Bon Jovi Short of inspiration ??
Maybe it's just me and don't get me wrong i'm well chuffed about hearing new matrerial. basically anything to put in my cd player that isn't HAND, Crush or Bounce will do!!
But it just sounds (from the promo stuff that i've heard so far that they've got a collection of songs and not really an "album" i mean how many times in the past have they put a song on an album thats already been used on a soundtrack (usually because it doesn't go with the feel of the album) and We got it goin on (i admit i've only heard it with the sound effects), well i can't really imagine that on an album alongside MAM and I love this town, they just don't really go together do they ? maye they don't have enough songs to make an album, but scared if they don't release sumfin people will forget who they are, or maybe they worte these songs so far apart that they don't have the same feel |
It will be interesting to see what the final lineup of the album is, we have certainly had a diverse range of snippets so far.
My guess is they are trying out all these different styles and genres because they can, they want to make something different and prehaps change the defiant rock song stereotype they have manufactured post 2000 (IML, Everyday, HAND). And I don't think thats a bad thing. Just my opinion though. I look forward to the final result, the question is whether the general public will like it. |
i'm liking MAM more and more and its been on repeat all day, the first time i've done that with a BJ song in the last ten years
but unfortunatley one song doesn't make an album lost highway is weak for me and thats the title track, too many cliches that BJ have done before and that plastic dashborad jesus line grinds on me because JBJ trying to out that in a song for ages as for i love this town, its been done before and should never make an album Summertime is a reasonable filler to an album BUT i love the sound of Any other day so far it sounds like they gonna make an album because the wrote a couple of good songs so "we might as well add some more and release an album" |
Each to their own, I like the plastic dashboard Jesus line :D

I'm gonna wait til I actually have the album til I make my mind up on it. Really like what I have heard so far though. All good sounding tracks, only one I haven't been too keen on is 'I Love This Town'. |
I dunno, to me the only ones that seem like they'd be out of place are 'I Love This Town' and 'We Got It Goin On'. All the others have the same sound...even 'Summertime' would fit in I reckon.

Just wondering, because they aired HAND live before the lyrics got re-jigged - are the lyrics to the songs actually finalised i.e., has the album actually gone into production. I'm really disliking the simplistic words and phrases they are using post-2000. They used to produce lyrics with the same artistic manner as they approached the melodies, such as on 'These Days' and 'KTF' but now we just get nothing to think about or ponder. No deeper meaning behind the songs, just take-it-as-it-is, unsubtle blurb.
It sounds better than I thought it was going to given all the speculation about it being 'country' and, in some parts I'd even go as far to say it sounds Springsteen-esque but I'm not won over by it so far and there have certainly been no stand out tracks, not even the title song and the lyrics, as we've come to expect, let even the better songs down. Waiting for it's release with a little apprehension methinks... |

I agree that their previous 3 installments were not so good albumwise. But all 3 albums had some great tracks, some good ones, some average ones & some really crap ones.So I would say consistency is not there. And about Lost Highway (song)being in that movie,I'm pretty sure that band gave the song in movie because there was no soundtrack for it. |
