Stratocaster + Les Paul = Brilliant Jovi ?

Ok I'm new to this forum, but I've been reading here for a while. I've been wondering about this question for a while and thought this might be the place to post it.

So, as the guitarplayer I am, I look for inspiration at my favourite band, like everybody else. What I observe is that Richie uses Stratocaster as his "mainweapon" for great music, in my ear :)
What I mean is, my favourite records are TD & KTF. I look at the 90's as their "goldera." i guess ome of you do too.

My question or thoughs goes for the guitarplayers in here:

Is there a link between the music they make and the guitars Richie uses/used?
You can really hear typical Stratocaster and Les Paul sound on TD & KTF. Post TD he has not has the same typical sound, he changes guitars or atleast it doesn't sound so classical Strat & Les Paul.

Not to be superstitious, but did the Stratocasters and Les Paul make better albums and songs?

Ok, I guess you got the idea now.

Just some thoughts :)

I think it's a very interesting theory. I know that Crush had a lot of Vintage Strats and the majority of Bounce was LP's and tele's so who knows.

he used alot of strats on crush but they were vintage instead of the supped up ones on these days and ktf. you could say that crush is the real "strat" album and the previous weren;t.

he just uses guitars as needed i mean he had some sort of gretsch-esque hollowbody on misunderstood for example, he uses les paul on heavier tunes, he uses the 52 tele on saturday night and his own prototype guitars if and when needed live.

Really? That's kind of interesting, was this said in some interview? I love this sort of stuff.

Wasn't Bounce mainly a Gibson Flying V? I can hear a tele in there too, like in Bounce (the song). I also can believe the Gretsch hollow body in Misunderstood.
Haven't thought of Crush as a Start album though, it doesn't sound like it. Two Story Town & Next 100 Years, I Got The Girl and Mystery Train would be my guess for Strats :) It's My Life is a Les Paul with Marshalls :D

Still thinks he should use the Strat more, it seems like the songs are geting better with a Strat, or maybe it's just me who loves the Stratocaster too much haha ;)

No I totally agree, Richie is at his best when he as a Strat.

A tele on Bounce?? I'd of said a Gibson for sure. I think Bounce is too heavy for a tele. I know Standin' was a Gibson LP, and Open All Night was a tele but that's all I know from the bj tv videos.

It's nice to see that others agree :)

The Tele in Bounce is ofcause in the last verse :
Bring it on, I like it rough
In your face, I call your bluff

Listen in the background youæll hear this light guitar with lots of reverb and echo.
Joey might also have some, atleast single-coils...

I know the part you mean. I can cut it out and amplify it and post it here if you want, you may be right. Joey definetely sounds like some single coil playing, yah.

I've got an magazine interview where Richie says he used some of his old Charvels on some of the tracks, he doesn't say which tracks though. I've always guessed at it being one wild night because its the most 80's style song on the album. I've always pictured she's a mystery as being played on a strat too.
