Album sales

So, how many albums have they really sold....? Cause now even bonjovi.com says that they have sold OVER 120 million albums.... And sometimes the number is about 105 million.... Who is fooling or isn't there any accurate way to count the number....? For some reason it bugs me when BJ is always introduced as a band that has sold over 100 million albums..... Some of my friends say that BJ doesn't sell much anymore 'cause it's always like:"Ladies and gentlemen here's the 80s rock-band Bon Jovi and 100 million albums". C'moon where goes that 20 million...? You have to be big well-known international artist to sell even that 20 million albums....

I added up all the album sales that I got off Wikipedia up and got just over 120 million, but that depends on how much you trust what Wikipedia says

I think it's pretty difficult to count the total number of worldwide sales

As unlikey as it sounds that 15-20million additional albums could have been sold since only a few years back, you'd be surprised. Not just including HAND which is around 5million, but the whole back catalogue too; Slippery and Crossroad still continue to sell well. Slippery is one of those albums like Appetite for Desturuction, Nevermind etc that still continue to sell well decades after their release.

But yeah, BJ.com probaly rounded up the figure, but i'd definately put the figure at somewhere between 110 and 120million.

I have ONE question. They say that they sold 120 mln albums but they include over they singles which they sold ?

I know that they have sold more than 4 mln of copies Always single and more than 1 mln copies IMLife and Livin OAP.

So how they include singles or not ?

That is a good point :)

Last year, at the World Music Awards, Guinness World Records announced that Michael Jackson's Thriller album has sold 104 million copies. I know for a fact that THAT is not accurate (and alot of MJ fans can back me on this) because sometime after 2000, the current statistic was 52 million (half of what they're claiming now). And don't forget, that was before the child molestation case. So how on Earth did he manage to double that in 6 years is anyone's guess.

So, I do believe that they include Single Sales in the total.

The Thriller album had 9 songs - 8 were released as singles :)

Ehhh... its obviosuly 100+million ALBUM sales you muppets, who cares about Michael Jackson.

Who in their right mind would include singles sales in album sales? you newbies confuse me

They do not count single sales in their album sales. I can't tell you the exact source, but I have heard an interview where Jon stated that their sales were full album sales only.

They had a huge hit with Who Says and hits always open doors for people to go out and pick up the back catalogue. How many people who grew up with Bon Jovi, turned to country, heard Who Says, and then thought, "Hey, I ought to upgrade Slippery to CD!"?

I've got a feeling the figure also includes DVD sales.
I reckon 120 million is being extremely generous and is probably 110 million at best.

Yep, Becky, I remember Jon specifically saying that singles were NOT included in the 100 million.

ok so forgive me for being the douter in the group but,

it took the group 20 or so years to meet 100 million and that was at the height of thier popularity, now since then they have had the box set and H.A.N.D, amd yes i know that people will buy the old stuff again but i cant see them getting 20 million album sales from that in the past 4 years r so!
