The G, D, Em, C thing
How many times have they used it???
Even in a different key..... Suppose the title should really read 'The I, V, VI, IV chord thing' but hey ho...... Is it getting boring/predictable now? Having said that, it's very very rare that this musical element has been used and no one likes it. The only instance I can think of is Save The World (Which I think is very good but that's another story lol) Thoughts? |
off the top of my head it's appeared in:
in these arms say it isn't so something to believe in have a nice day hearts breaking even to name a few and there's alot more than that i can't think of just now. it's a brilliant progression and they're not the only band that's done it to death. i know i have in my songs :-) |
Just wondering, isn't that also used in Warrant's "Heaven"? :D
|
yeah that and the 12 bar blues in E. Both of them have been used to death and not just by Jovi but all musicians. It's just a common transition. I know I use them a lot as well. That's just like saying "how many Solo's can Kirk Hammet do in the E minor penatonic scale?" I have been noticing that they have been using it a lot more lately though.

Oh Yeah, Richie used it in Made In America too. |
Try Em - C - G - D/F#
You'll be amazed. Even in diffrent keys ;) |

Yeah, it is really annoying! They always use that one.. or sometimes this one: Am F C G (in different keys). It gets too predictable and boring when they always use it!

I don't see it when seeing the above songs, they are enterirely different musically aren't they? (or has it to do with the speed/rythum the chords are played?) |
