To American Idol Fans/Watchers, Which Bon Jovi Songs Will Each 6 Contestant Sing?
Any bets? And though Im not really a fan, I cant wait for this one!

Most likely someone will do Wanted and Prayer, maybe IML.

Someone will sing Always. Actually they'll probably all be boring and do ballads. If only Sanjaya had made it just one more week.

I'm thinking we may not hear any Jovi songs at all. So far this year they have had Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Martina McBride and others on and it was never a "sing songs from this artist" week but rather a "sing a song from this artists genre" week. For example for Gwen Stefani week they had to sing either a 90's song or a song from an artist that inspired Gwen. For Jennifer Lopez week it was Latin songs and for McBride it was Country songs. Now that being said durring those weeks some of the contestants did sing songs by the featured artist but due to the difficulty of Jovi songs and the fact that I don't think anybody left can pull off a good version of a Jovi song, I think its likely that it'll be either "80's week" or "Rock Week" and nobody will sing a Bon Jovi song.

It sounds like they will be performing Bon Jovi songs as per these comments from an EW interview:
What did the judges mean when they said he lacked some of the country twang he had the week before? I thought he still had that country edge. Plus Garth Brooks is so country-pop crossover. Phil's going to bring that to Bon Jovi next week as well. He needs to do that. That's who he is. That's the record he could make. What can we expect from Bon Jovi week? I think the guys definitely have an advantage singing Bon Jovi songs. Whatever the girls do, they should get extra props for having to sing a guy rock & roll-vibe song. You're working with Chris, Phil, and Jordin this week. Has the theme been tough on Jordin? It's tough for all the girls, though I can't speak for Melinda and LaKisha because I'm not working with them. What I will say about Jordin is that the second it was announced we were doing a Bon Jovi week, she requested her song early. She knew exactly what she was going to sing. Rock star Jon Bon Jovi will mentor the contestants as they prepare to sing songs by his legendary band. Tune in the following night to see a live performance by multi-Platinum Bon Jovi and find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who must go home. |
The thing that sucks about AI, is that when it is a certain artist of the week, they never take chances and do something obscure. The only one who did was Chris Daughtry last year, during Queen week. He did "Innuendo", and Simon Cowell chastised him for picking an unknown song.
And Chris did it so well! I want to see these guys do stuff that would blow us away, like "Santa Fe" or "This Ain't A Love Song", but it's likely going to be LOAP, Bad Name, and so on... I can't complain too much though, at least we're getting a Bon Jovi week. It's something I never thought would happen. I think it would be a mistake if any of the contestants did "Wanted" since Chris nailed it last year. |
See and I think these finalists are going to stay away from Prayer, IML, BM, Wanted etc.... if they are smart and if they are allowed there are some catalog songs that they could do well, make more their own.

American Idol
Hey guys,
I'm thinking maybe "Bed of Roses","You give love a bad name","Bad Medicine,"Born to be my baby"I'll be watching for sure.OMG Jon is gonna be mentoring them on his I mean Bon Jovi's songs!!This will be very intersting to watch for sure OMG I can't wait!!! Hugs, Jon's Winter Kitten |
I'm not sure I can stand to watch, but I feel very compelled to anyways. I know it will only upset me and my jealous green monster. Plus, I usually can't stand it when people cover Bon Jovi songs.
My guesses would be: Bed of Roses You Give Love a Bad Name It's My Life Something for the Pain? or Bad Medicine Always Livin on a Prayer |
