Pure Extortion or Ebayer Stupidity?

I can't believe what i have just seen!!!

EBAY LINK REMOVED BY KEV

Now tell me, who do we blame now? The touts, or the people that are stupid enough to pay that sort of price for two tickets. I mean c'mon guys, i love this band like they are my family but at that price i could goto Jersey and see them at Giants!!!
What do you lot think?
Maybe we should bid and make it go really high then let the arsehole tout suffer!

If you look at the bid history though, the opening bid was just £5 .... so its the bidders themselves pushing it so high, not the seller

Yep, it's those bidding on the tickets pushing the price up. Had no one bid until closer to the end of the auction they wouldn't be this high.

in all fairness if someone has the money and wants to spend it like that, i don;'t see it as a huge problem. i've paid over the odds for gigs before and apart from the wallet taking a hit, it didn't harm anyone.

you can argue that it stops "real" fans getting tickets but i doubt a casual listener is going to spend massive amounts on touted tickets.

i might not be able to go to the gig and i'm not even going to deny the ticketw ill be going to the highest bidder in order to cover the cost of the ticket, my digs, the flights and if possible some spare cash.

The reason it stops "real" fans getting tickets is purely because these touts buy lots of them up, meaning that fans can't get them in the legitimate sale, and then they can't afford to pay tout prices. I wouldn't pay extra for a ticket if it meant a tout getting a big cut of it. If I couldn't get tickets from a proper ticket seller I'd rather be upset at missing the show than out of pocket from buying from a tout.

It's always and only the buyers fault. If people wouldn't buy from brokers and scalpers and pay horrible prices, brokers wouldn't exist. I don't blame the brokers and touts, they are just business men. I blame the people who support this with buying from them.

the thing alot (ie most people) don't realise is that touts have these tickets before they've even went on sale. it's not a huge conspiracy but promoters etc... will be getting a kick back, if you wanted to have an envelope with 50 tickets in it for a big gig that'll sell out in no time could you do that? nope yet the touts manage this everytime.... it's not a coincidence. promo tickets, freebies, comp tickets etc.... all go to the touts before we can get our paws on them.

it's not entirely different from game shop staff getting a bunch of playstations before they go on sale to the public and selling them on ebay.

by the same token i've never missed a gig due to not being able to get tickets or not being willing to pay what the touts are asking and i go to a large amount of gigs, if i never usually have problems i don't see why anyone else would except for big one off things like this.

Was this the bid that was up to #1,600 - that's coming to an end, will be interesting to see what it goes for!

I was searching around earlier & came across a 'buy it now' auction for #6,500 - Front Row seats. Had a time limit of 21 days. Search for Bon Jovi O2, then include international tickets, then click on 'see Buy it now' auctions.

& to top it all off - they are charging 8.99 for postage? That's a bit mean!!

It went for #2,050 - Apparently the market value of a front row BJ seat. Although there were a few really large jumps in the bidding value. Can the touts manipulate these?

I liked the good old days when you could get front row for the normal price of a GA, a fan club membership & a bit of sleeping rough!
