Bon Jovi To Play New Jersey In October
This is from the yahoo music page.
Bon Jovi to rock new New Jersey arena 05/02/2007 8:08 PM, AP New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi will be the first act to rock "The Rock," the state's newest arena, officials announced Wednesday. The band will play several shows at the Prudential Center starting Oct. 26, said Pat Smith, a spokesman for AEG New York/New Jersey, part of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which is booking concerts and special events for the arena. The number of shows has not been determined, he said. The $365-million arena, which will be home to the New Jersey Devils of the NHL, is under construction in downtown Newark. It can seat 19,500 for concerts. The band, whose hits include "You Give Love a Bad Name," includes lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, a native of Sayreville. The arena gets its name from Prudential Financial Inc., the Newark-based financial services and insurance giant whose symbol is the Rock of Gibraltar. Tickets for Bon Jovi go on sale in mid-June. ___ On the Net: http://www.bonjovi.com http://www.prucenter.com |
Interesting article. On Idol Jon apparantly mentioned 10 dates in NJ, then a tour starting in January 2008.
Lets hope this time around he remembers what "world" means in a world tour. |
I'll be there with ****ing bells on!

Word of advice to anyone thats never been to Newark, carry the least amount of money as possiable, enjoy the show and leave right after because Newark is one of the worst parts of NJ.

The area that the new arena has been built in is part of a whole "rebuild Newark" plan. It is close to the new performing arts center (which has some of the best acoustics in the area) and the new baseball stadium for the Newark Bears. Going to a concert there should not be a problem at all - I've been to several at the new performing arts center. I don't know about parking at the new arena yet as it isn't finished but I'll find out. There is also a PATH station quite close if you are thinking about taking public transportation. The Gateway center is also right there (which is where the Port Authority employees work since the WTC went down) and my daughter has been working summers there since she was 15. She has never had a problem with the area so I really don't think you will have a problem. Since 2001, several members of my family have been in and out of this part of Newark on a daily basis without any problems at all. There are parts of Newark that you don't want to be at night but this isn't one of them. Kathleen |
If I go there, will I get shot?

All the new construction is in an area of Newark called the Ironbound District - look it up. http://www.goironbound.com There is one small area of Newark that is bad - the rest of it is fine. There are areas of Newark that are still so expensive that I couldn't afford to buy anything there. I just asked my daughter about working there and she rolled her eyes at me and wondered why everybody is so paranoid. The new arena is across the street from where she works and right next to the North East Corridor - the best transportation in the country. It really is perfectly safe. However - if you all stay home - I will get better seats :p Kathleen |

And check out his list of the 25 most dangerous cities in the US - as of Oct 2006. Newark isn't even on the list. Neither is New York City.
