Tico In Top Ten Drummers Of All Time?

no i dont have a list, but tell me where u think he would qualify on a list, and i gotta tell u he wouldn't be # 1, but tell me where u think he'd be and why, and take into consideration all the other incredable talent out there. cya round,

brijovi, p.s, dead drummers would also be on this list, as the best drummer in the world died many years ago...... and no i dont hate tico im a huge fan of his, i just wanna know what u guys think!

Meggar 08-08-2002 03:16 AM

Best drummer: Neil Peart (Rush)

I think Tico wouldn´t make the top 10 list, although he´s a great drummer. I should also mention Angra´s Aquiles Priester, what a fast and creative rhythm he´s got.

{_Warrior_} 08-08-2002 03:32 AM

Aquiles is one of the bests !!!!!!
Angra rulez !!!!!!!!

Tico is also very good, but I think he can´t show everything he knows in th BJ songs, because this is Hard rock, not heavy metal.
But, how can I say, I´m a BJ fan, so for me Tico is the best !!!!!

Meggar 08-08-2002 03:39 AM

good to know I´m not the only Brazilian guy here, lol

gunner 08-08-2002 07:26 AM

i agree tico would be up there amongst the best . i also like cozy powell, keith moon ,peter criss, rick allen(def leppard) bearing in mind he only has one arm,he plays pretty dam good. i feel that the drummer is the important member of any group.

BleedinGuitar 08-08-2002 09:03 AM

That would be Rick Allen,

Savage is the bassist.

AUSSIE_TICO 08-08-2002 09:03 AM

I don't agree with Peter Criss, Eric Carr or Eric Singer were better drunners fron Kiss. I think Tico is awesome, he can play what ever Jon asks him to. You dont have to be fast to be brilliant.

Aunt Mooky 08-08-2002 01:28 PM

I think Tico is really wild!

Bj would not be the same without his diverse playing!!!!!

He definitly belongs to the Top 10 drummers, for me personally he is together with Don Henley the number one!

Billa

Martin 08-08-2002 05:01 PM

nope- i'm a drummer myself and i wouldn't put him into the top 10 though tico is good and though he can't show everything at bon jovi- once he joked "i'd love to do songs in 7/8 time but richie can't count it" (it is indeed hard to count a 7/8 time at the beginning)! for me the best drummers are dennis chambers(studio musician- currently with santana), jeff porcaro (dead toto drummer), simon phillipps (living toto drummer), manu katché (don't know if i've written him correctly- current drummer from sting),... sorry for all those i've not mentioned...

Brijovi 08-08-2002 07:15 PM

wow! im also a drummer myself and im shocked one name never came up. John Bonham! the king of the skins! the best drummer to ever grace earth! wow, i thought for sure he'd have been all over these replies! cya round,

brijovi, ooooooooooya.

tanyaspace 08-08-2002 07:49 PM

yeah ...tico is a really good one..
but there are better ones out there.. 8)
and as some of you said...
he cant show everything he is able to do with the music of BJ---
just think of simon phillips, mike portnoy, john bonham, eric singer ( check his official website.. www.ericsinger.de ) , ian paice, dennis chambers, vinnie paul , chad smith , steve ferrone, buddy rich ,cozy powell, neil peart and all the other great drummers...
tico is very groovy :D ..but he isnt in the list of the 10 best drummers of all time..
WE LOVE HIM ANYWAYS...dONT WE? LOL
TICO ROCKS  !!!!

fryinpan1 08-08-2002 07:55 PM

Tico is worthy of a top 10 nomination in my book. I think other top 10 candidates would be Tommy Lee, Lars Urlich, and Chad Smith.

tanyaspace 08-08-2002 08:00 PM

lol lars ulrich?
that guy isnt able to keep a straight beat ..
he is one of the worst drummers ever...
whoever judges him says
he is a 0.00 on a scale from 0(worst) to 10(best) ..
even other famous drummers say that ..
but for the music of metallica hes okay LOL

but chad and tommy really rock !

Martin 08-08-2002 08:32 PM

lars ulrich is really a very bad drummer.... no time and that's the most important thing for a drummer- don't know if he plays with a click but i would recommend it dearly to him... just listen to the s&m- great album but he messes it all up... even metallica fans rail at him :-)

tanyaspace 08-08-2002 08:40 PM

yay... ;)
good to hear that there are some people
that know too what they´re talkin about.. :D 8)
whoever says ulrich is a good drummer
must have no clue about drummin ;) LOL

The best drummer I have ever heard and seen live is Dirk Brand. Lol, ok, you won't know him, he's the drummer of a local fusion band. He studied drumming in LA for a few years an joined various acts (mostly German musicians) on tour. He is also a drum teacher and I know this sounds very unconvincing but for me he's the best. He gave me some lessons and there's no drum teacher who tought me that much within such a short time (now Dirk's former teacher teaches me, and old guy from England who's totally into Jazz). Well, it's not always the famous musicians who are the bests. Becoming famous isn't all about being the best, it has also a lot to do with contacts that help you getting famous. But sometimes the best musicians are just around you...i know you won't believe me, but John Bonham or any other dummer is nothing compared to Dirk...

ktf and believe me, lol, Johannes

{_Warrior_} 08-09-2002 03:37 AM

Yeah, meGGar, is very good to know that I´m not the only brazilian man that likes BJ. :D

Meggar 08-09-2002 03:51 AM

I mean... not only a BJ but also an Angra fan. God damn it! Are you following me? LOL

Are you also from the Angra.net message board?

{_Warrior_} 08-09-2002 04:05 AM

No.. :D :D I´m not following you...
I´m a BJ fan sice I was 8 !!!!!
BEcame a Angra fan just a year ago, but how can I say, now I like both in the same way, because BJ isn´t in my day-by-day as Angra is. I can see Angra every time, not like BJ.
But I admire both

Guy,... good to know people that likes the same sound, it makes me feel "normal"

hauhaahuau :D :D

crush35 08-09-2002 07:27 AM

tommy lee

I agree with everyone... Tico is a great drummer and this is no secret. I'd say he's top 10... but if I gave an opinion on best ever it'd be Tommy Lee. Man that guy is awesome! He can hold down any beat plus can solo like no other. If I made an all-star band... he'd be my drummer.

chrissi 08-09-2002 11:03 AM

For me Tico is definately the No. 1 of all drummers in the whole world !!!!!!! :D :D :D

He is wild, he rocks!!!! He has the possibiity to vary, he's a hard drummer but he's got the feeling for the rythm... :D :D :D perfect!!!

The only man that kicks me on the drums like Tico is Don Henley, even if he's got a very different style. (Mooky, you know, what I mean, lol?!)

Take care!

Chrissi

Martin 08-09-2002 01:14 PM

i remember tico saying that for HIM the best drummer is simon phillips! he admires his technique and his diversity and flexability... after i've heard simon's "out of the blue" live album i totally agree with tico

Mr Bluesman 08-09-2002 02:20 PM

No I'm not a drummer, but being a bassist makes me think that Tico is one of the first people that I'd like to play along with, he has got a great rhythm and can keep a good beat, listen to I Believe, the drums are fairly simple but very, very effective.
He a very enthusiastic drummer and obviously loves what he does so I'd put him in the top 10 though maybe not number 1. Just like Richie on the guitar, Richie's a fantastic guitarist but maybe not the very best, the same with Tico, a fantasic drummer but not the greatest.
I love to see him on the Live From London vhs, smoking whist drumming, very cool 8)

Just Older 08-12-2002 04:56 AM

Is Tico in the top 10? Who cares? I could sit and watch him play drums forever.... (exuse me while a mop the drool coming from my mouth!!!!) 8)

Brijovi 08-12-2002 07:52 AM

i think this'll be my last post on this topic, so i guess i better make it good. i think tico is a great drummer, definately in the top 10. i think there's more talent to him then what we see, if he could just unload and play without his " bon jovi" boundries, i bet he could do incredable things. as a drummer the one thing i noticed about his work is his incredable abilty to play of the toms, it's incredable, so fluent and natural. the only one that compares to him there is the legendary john bonham! cya round,

brijovi, ya, i guess ill post on this again...lol.

Musicman 08-12-2002 09:44 PM

How about Ringo? Now there is a great drummer! (lol, ha ha ha)
You know, he had a replacement on some Beatles tunes cause the studio man thought his drumming was unacceptable. Oh, boy. John and Paul write some of the best tunes ever, but their drummer can't keep a beat! Anyway, what about Joey Kramer from Aerosmith? The best is probably John Bonham from Zeppelin.

Brijovi 08-13-2002 06:45 AM

crap man! u scared for a sec, i thought u were serious about the ringo thing! lol, though u gotta admit, his son is incredable, i beleive he tours with THE WHO..........cya round,

brijovi, ooooooooooooya!
