Today Show Experience

(Mods, there really is a reason for this thread to be seperate)
Ok, so my dad and I got there last night at around 11:00, and actually had a pretty good position on line. We laid out the blanket, and waited, and chatted with some of the other people. Anyway, the reason I'm telling this story is because at about 6:30 (Give or take, around the time of the sound check) my dad ended up fainting in the middle of the street. He was taken to the hospital, and is fine. It was just a mix of the heat, standing, an his lack of eating. Anyway, I just wanted to get this story out there, but also, I don't know if any of these people are on these boards, but I'd like to thank all the people who rushed to see if he was alright, and offered water and such. Also, I'd like to thank the trained paramedic (name started with a C or a K) who was about four people in front of us, who was a huge help until the ambulance arrived.

Holy crap - that's terrible :( You did not have a good morning did you?

I hope your Dad is OK now and has no bad aftereffects. Let's see - the kids aren't supposed to tell the parents to eat are they? LOL

Sorry to hear about your dad. I was there and saw the ambulance. The people who I ended up with were wondering what was going on.I hope he's okay.I got there at 12:30.Being on no sleep and nothing to eat made me a couple of times nervous about the heat luckily there was none where I was standing.I am still up 48 hrs later.

Sorry to hear about your father. Glad he's doing better. What caused him to faint?

Apparently, he hadn't eaten much. So, that left him weak, combined with the lack of sleep, and the standing in heat, his body just reacted badly.

This reminded me of something that happened with myself and a friend a few months back. We were staying out for the Nintendo Wii at our local Target. We only had two blankets, cold pizza, one pair of socks, and two chairs. He became delirious and very weak. I tried to run, or do push-ups to stay warm, but nothing helped. We were both exhausted from it. After he got home, he went to bed for two days, and couldn't get up for another week. Strange eh?
