Help with my iPod (please... somebody... anybody!)

OK, my computer crashed this evening. I used System Restore to get it back, but ever since, my iPod has been ****ed up. It was connected to the comp when it crashed, and now all I see is that "Do Not Disconnect" screen, no matter what I do.

I can't turn it off or restart it, and everytime I connect it, everything just freezes up, but iTunes won't recognise it. 1 error message did come up saying I need to restore it... but as iTunes won't recognise it, I can't... any ideas? It's pretty much brand new, so I'm quite clueless at the moment.

Try resetting it. Keep the centre key and the menu key pressed down - that should reset it, otherwise go to the Apple site and look under help. Mine went funny as well and resetting did help.
Good luck!

Tash is right - do as she said. Then you should be able to restore it in iTunes. Remember that you will lose everything on it when you restore it. I assume that you have your stuff backed up somewhere.

Keep in mind - an iPod is just a hard drive - nothing magic about it.

Thanks a lot. I've already tried resetting it, but it just won't do anything, it's frozen on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen. Whelp, off to look at the Apple site now. Should've done that first I guess ;)

Have you tried connecting it to a different computer? Maybe a friend's computer or something?

Failing that, yeah, getting Apple's advice is probably the best idea

just sounds like it's frozen.

if you let the battery die and try it again it should work ok.

Haha, that worked, thankya. I couldn't get it to charge before anyway, heh, seems to be working fine now though.
