Recommend a guitar

Yo yo.

I'm in the market for an acoustic for not much money at all. My Takamine was stolen a week ago from the boot of my car :(

I wanna spend £150 or less - just for something to keep me going till the insurance is sorted. Solid top would be nice (not likely but hey ho) - steel strug obviously. I need a cutaway too, no massive great dreadnought jobbies. :)

If anyone knows of such a guitar would you please take the time to let me know :)

thx in advance

Have you checked eBay?

I dont buy used. Not a snob, I just feel better knowing its only mine. Same with cars - not houses but ya get the idea :p

eBay doesn't mean 2nd hand :) I rarely buy stuff 2nd hand but use eBay plenty - shop sellers. Any with a few thousand points of feedback are generally good and sell only new stuff :) I got my own acoustic guitar from one for about £50 or so, which is very good considering I play lefty and those are less often seen for sale.

i cant remember what exact guitar or model it was but i was in sound control a while back in the acoustic department and a guy was trying out a few acoustics. the sales dude pointed him towards a solid top that cost around £150.

i wish i'd listened better because it did sound really nice for a low end acoustic. it might have been legacy.

fwiw if you're going to get the insurance money i'd just leave it because as good as a sound as you might be able to get, the tuners, action and intonation are probably not worth the hassle of dealing with if a few weeks for a payout is all it takes to get another nice acoustic.

i used to have a bit of an aversion to buying second hand but if i hadn't got over that i wouldn't have either of my g&l's or some of my favourite pedals...

I just got a Freshman guitar. Mine is a 12 string and sounds great.

at the same time my Mrs bought a £150 Freshman 6 string for her dad as a pressie, and that sounded pretty good to me.

They are definately worth a look/listen.

Thanks guys.

The insurance payout will be on the 22nd of August according to the dude on the phone.

I can wait that long I think - I'll brush up on my sweep picking or something to fill the gap :)

I haven't got an idea on how much they actually cost these days, but Ovation's Celebrity series is a nice, affordable electro-acoustic.
