The Ideal Show Opening Song?

Of the shows I have seen and the opening songs I have heard, I think that the 1996 'Lay your hands on me' with the marching band intro was the best. I felt that built the show up really well.

But I think that 'Hey god' or 'Undivided' would both be rock solid openers.

I also think they mist a trick with 'Hook me up' with the opening line 'Hello, is there anybody out there?' I think they used that in a promo show but I think that would have worked well.

What do you think. Don't just think of the opening songs you have heard or seen. What would be your ideal opening song?

I agree Lay Your Hands is good. Prayer always excites me though, but do think its getting a bit old - the whole Prayer/Bad Name together. I can see why they opened with Last Man Standing on the last tour, but that means for OWN, Bounce, and HAND they've pretty much had the same opening song for most of the shows...Agree about Hook Me Up, think it would have been better than Bounce.

My ideal show opener would probably be something with quite a long intro to build up the atmosphere but a good solid rock song to get in the mood.... (scours his brain for upbeat songs with long intros....hmmm, can't think of any). Okay then, I Believe always kick ass. Would also be quite happy with Someday I'll Be Saturday Night as a show opener (rather than a closer, which they do occasionally), or for something offbeat, how about Get Ready.

Good rock song?

One Wild Night was an excellent opener. (I adored the guys being in the lift on screen too :))
And Bounce was too.
I didnt really like Last Man Standing as an opener, thought it was a bit too slow.

I think Raise Your Hands would be excellent.

Anything that would make you jump around a bit :)

I Believe definitely. Perfectly builds into a crescendo.

I've seen live:
Bounce
Last Man Standing
Rockin' in The Free World
Out of those, I'd say LMS was the best (from a show-opener standpoint)

I'd love to see "I Believe" or really LYHOM.......Can we dream that, since '08 is the twentieth anny of New Jersey we may get this song back......
For the record, I hate Prayer as aon opener.
Not Bbecause it's bad, but because that song belongs and deserves to be late in setlists. I liked it's placement on the HAND tour.

Just out of curiosity, have they ever opened with Keep The Faith?

LMS was the worst opener to a show I ever been to. I've seen them open with I believe in 93 (my first show), als LYHM with the Marching band in 96, believe me the latter is more awesome, let them do I believe straight after (wich they done on other occasions)
