Should Learco Chindamo stay in the UK?
 

For you that dont know Learco Chindamo knifed to death Philip Lawrence a school head teacher. Full story here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6955071.stm . Is it fair that he should stay or do you think as he has done such a terrible crime he should be sent back to Italy? Should the views of Philip Lawrence wife be taken into account? Or do you think because he has said hes a reformed character that he should be given a second chance?

He is actually a UK citizen, right? TBH, I don't particularly see why we should take people in when it suits us to, but foist them off back to their own country if they become troublesome ... in that case, we may as well just bring back transportation, and ship all our criminals off to a deserted island (if such a thing still actually exists)

He's lived here since he was 6 - he's a product of our society and therefore should be returned to it.

if he's a UK citizen (even if he isn't UK born) then I don't see how they can deport him.

Also the concept of our judicial system is rehabilitation and sending him home when he's served his sentence would suggest that they don't see him fully rehabilitated ergo the sentence didn't work....

There's too much focus put onto rehabilitation these days rather than punishment. People get out in <15 years after committing murder for ****s sake. I'm not saying that people don't deserve a 2nd chance, but as a law abiding member of the general public, I'd rather people were locked up longer and then give them a chance perhaps.
It even happens in schools, I remember at ours - I always did my work, always behaved, and nothing - the kids who acted like twats all the time would get almost bribed to be good, so they were getting more attention, while those of us who were good all along got **** all.

If I didn't get this wrong... Born in Italy, came over when he was six, stabbed a teacher to death, got a 12 year sentence (12 years for killing a man...talk about failure of your legal system), and now on the eve of his release, you're talking about sending him back to Italy, which many say is a "violation" of his "human rights."

This is ludicrous. He killed an innocent for no reason. Your justice system made a mockery of itself and only held him for 12 years.

Don't agree with the Communists on much, but I think their "dig your own grave" style of execution bears some discussion here.

the sentencing aside since our judicial system obviously deem him to have served his sentence and no longer be a danger to the public or he wouldn't be getting out...

why would we / how could we send him back to italy? he's a british national, spent more time in the UK than italy, committed the crime in the UK, served his sentence in the UK etc..

this isn't someone from the middle east who's come over to plan an attack, been jailed here and then sent packign once they're out. this is a british citizen who committed a crime in the UK.

I'm not saying he should be sent back to Italy. If he's a British citizen (and I don't know how your country determines the citizenship of those foreign born), then there's no reason to deport him.

Having killed an innocent person, there is however EVERY reason to make sure he never kills again. If that means putting him in the ground or keeping him on the inside of the graybar hotel for the rest of his miserable life, that's what needs to happen. 12 years for murder one is joke.

He isn't getting out yet - he will be considered for parole next year.

Tell me why you think he should be allowed to stay and enjoy the privileges of staying in the UK when hes done something like this?
