Do you own one? i got this sent to me today from Amazon Amazon Amazon and they look amazing .I didnt know they held so many songs . Are they worth getting?

Personally I think they look ugly, and for what they are, very much a rip-off. There it shows a 1gb one for £49 - I paid about £13 for a cheap 1gb player a few months back. Also, the number of songs that they store is, I think, based on 128kbps 44khz stereo (standard). As for the bigger ones, I think that the Creative Zen ones look better, and seem better value for money.

Personally though I don't ever feel the need to have my entire music collection at hand at any given moment. I'm happy enough to spend 10 minutes picking songs I want on a given day to put onto my small player - though I don't often bother at that even.

I have an iPod 80 gig video player - though I never use it for video. I have blown away the Apple software and loaded third party Rockbox software so that it will play flac files. I download a lot of live bootlegs in flac format and I can load a new one up and listen while driving (I have a hookup in my car) or doing other things.

I hardly ever burn CDs anymore - I just either listen from my network or listen on my iPod. For me - a 1 gig player would be way too small. I am not fond of 128 kB mp3 files - I prefer higher quality if I can get it.

I don't use mine much, but all of my music is currently 320kbps MP3 on my PC (and when I can afford to double my hard-drive space I'll rip all of my CD's again to FLAC) I can still fit 30-50 songs on my 1gb player, enough for me generally for the day if I'm out anywhere, and want the music on, which is rare. For me music is more about sitting and listening to when I can sit and enjoy it, not something to just have on in the background when I'm out somewhere. I can't tend to enjoy it often like that.

I feel the same way BUT - there are times on long drives or even a long wait in line that I like having music with me.

And for excercise I still go rollerblading - and these days it's by myself. I seem to have run out of kids to skate with LOL. So I take my iPod and skate to the new Bruce album (recently) or anything recent that I have downloaded and I haven't listened to yet. I wind up listening to a lot more music this way than if I just waited to sit in my living room and listen to my "good" stereo system.

See, I'm kind of addicted to music. I listen on campus, I listen in the car, basically everywhere. For my first three years of high school, I carried a book with about 65 cd's with me every day. Now, obviously that's extreme, but point being I listen to alot of music, and I'm often in varying moods. My irst iPOD was the 4g Mini, and right now I have a 2g, original Nano (which is KILLING ME) I'm trying to save to buy the U2 iPOD (as it has more than enough space for my purposes, and I dig the red and black coloring)but between school, rent, concert tickets, and the trip to florida I'm going on in January, I don't see myself getting it any time soon.

I've owned several iPods, currently I mostly use a 1GB iPod shuffle. That's fine for me, like Neil I usually just upload my songs for the day. When I'm away for longer than just a couple of days I've got my old chunky iPod which holds 20GB (I think).

I don't really care too much about the mp3 quality on my iPod, usually I got the mp3's in 128kbps on it. I mainly listen to it in the train, on the plane, while riding my bike, while exercising etc - circumstances with too many noises around to hear any differences in quality very well anyway.

Well those times are when I generally do use mine, like if I'm going anywhere and it will take an hour or two or whatever, otherwise I don't bother. I can never find comfortable earphones anyway lol

Wahooooooooooooooooooo! New 160GB Ipods! ****in AWESOME!!!! :D :D

I have a 4th generation 20GB Ipod in white. It still works fine after three years, but I am looking at maybe getting an upgrade after I have moved out, if I can afford one. The one mentioned above looks VERY nice, but I'll probably upgrade to a 80GB, which is still of course, 4x my current capacity, and for only £159 :D :D
