new phoen contract = free goodies = one of those two so what do you reckon?

Depends what you want - great graphics, then get a 360.
Innovation? The Wii. I own both so: Wii is great fun to play, involving, new, innovative and wide ranging. There are massive games coming up for it, which retail at £40 max. The motion sensing is in full 3D (pitch, distance from screen, speed of movement etc etc etc) and is becoming more accurate and more inventively used as developers as time goes by. However, the graphics aren't as impressive as the 360's - they are a large step up from the previous generation, but not as impressive as the 360. To be honest, you don't always notice. A lot of games look amazing, some are under-developed, but overall the Wii is capable of perfectly acceptable GFX. The 360 is a powerhouse (less so than PS3) and displays superb, smooth graphics that are nicely realistic. It has the power to run any type of intensive game. There are a LOT of games for it, but they are the same type of game as what we had 4-5 years ago. They are very well made and fun to play. The idea of gaming is fun. Overall, you get more pure fun from a Wii - but more conventional gameplay from a 360. I'd get a Wii. |
mmmmmmmmmmmm i can't help but thinking pro evo 7 will kick much more ass on the 360 simply because of the graphics and engine and lets be honest, that's the most important thing. :-)

I'd go for the 360 mate. I don't own either but I have played both extensively and I've found that the wii gets quite boring after a while. It's novelty you pay for and game developers obviously put a lot in to ensuring the motion sensor works relatively well with the dynamics of the game but, as Don't(Lie_to_me) said, the graphics suffer as a result and no matter how much attention they pay to the motion sensing facility, it will never be as diverse as the amount of actions and functions you can get out of a control pad.

the wii is fun if theres more of you playing

Awesome topic, since I'm trying to figure out which system I want to buy. I've played the Wii a few times and tend to be leaning towards that, but I've heard good things about the 360 too. Decisions, decisions!!!

samsung D900i is winging its way here by friday and the xbox will be here just in time for pro evo 7 being released
:-) |
I'd advise to you is to buy a Wii pre-owned at some point.
Although it seems you are another happy to be dealt the same type of games, with the same type of pad for over 20 years :) |

and i like a good shoot em up, splinter cell and stuff like that. i can't wait for football manager 07-08 to come out too. i maybe shouldn't be rekindling my like for gaming when i'll be spending most of the rest of the year on school placement for my PGDE :-D |
I've been thinking of buying a Wii myself, when I can afford to. I've never been one for long games, I prefer ones which can be played primarily for fun and oft in short bursts, so for me I think that a Wii would be perfect. I might consider a PlayStation 3 at some point in the future also, as it would (presumably) play most of my games from the first 2 consoles, as well as Blu-Ray discs for films, and (I have heard) DVD-A and SACD, which would be very much appealing to me.
