The protests began after 14th August, in response to a steep and sudden state-imposed rise in fuel prices. Petrol prices went up by two thirds, diesel prices doubled and the cost of compressed natural gases rose five-fold. The price of staple goods, such as rice, went up as a result and many people were unable to afford bus fares to go to work.

you know a government is in trouble when it sends the troops onto the streets. ESPECIALLY for peaceful protests.

i mean how can anyone justify shooting, beating and gassing buddhists monks?

the UN should get troops in there ASAP if they haven't already.

Exactly, these things they should concentrate on.....

you think they would have done that even before now! they country has been in dire need for years now!!, they have even turned off the internet to stop reports getting out of the country! didnt even know tyhey could do that!,

im heading to an event tomorrow, all about the Irish civil rights movement of the 1960s,70s! and theres a march for Burma at the same time! its time the world woke up!!
