ET confirms that RICHIE SAMBORA is not in rehab -- we talked to the rocker on the red carpet of a Recording Academy New York Chapter event tonight in New York City.

The BON JOVI guitarist told us that he's doing very well.

Nah, the story doesn't carry that much importance for me to be in shock. I just find it almost humorous if, in fact, the story of him being in rehab was never true.
