Next Directory Ad blocks everything
If I open a page with the Next Directory Ad at the top of the board, it blocks everything on the page, ie I cant see the board message list at all .
I then have to reload the page, thats ok as long as I dont get the next ad again... sometimes I am having to reload the page 3 times before I can see the actual board message list..its happening on all forums and on dofferent pages, its the most annonying ad so far, as its not a pop up there is nothing I can do about it. Is this happening to anyone else? Dawn |
Yep. This particular advert is stopping me from seeing the board as well Dawn. Thankfully they change on a regular basis, so hopefully it won't stop us seeing the rest of the board for too much longer.
|
Yeah, it's happening to me too.
I just got a new pc so was blaming it on that lol. Hopefully won't go on for much longer. |
we should be able to complain to v bulletin get that ad stopped, if it has gone out to loads of boards then a lot of people r going to be having the same problem.
I reckon the ad is on rotation of about 4-6wks, so another mth of this and I will be really fed up. Took me 5 goes to get to see this post... Dawn |

I only use Firefox to view this board - and have used it for quite awhile now (mostly thanks to Ice). I have never had the pop-up problems that others complain about or various other problems. It's a free browser - try it. |
I only have problems now in work because I have to use IE and IT/Admin have blocked us from downloading/installing any additional software. Also to access the web, we use a Aplet which only works with IE, so there's no way around it.

ICE/Kathleen,
The next ad is not a pop up, its an ad within the board. Do either of u not see any ads at all, even within and at the top of the forums ? Dawn |
Dawn, any advert on this site can be blocked in FireFox using the AdBlock plugin, as was mentioned. It can block pop-up ads, banner ads within the pages, or the hovering, flash ones, which I presume is what you mean. You just tell it to block specific images, or domains which only ever contain ads.

When you do get firefox Dawn and if you dont like the look you can change it.Go onto Tools click on Add on then click themes .A tab will come up saying get themes click on that .Chose the one you want then download it .Restart firefox go to tools again get themes then chose the one you want then click on Ues this theme .It sounds abit involved but it does look good after .

Don't know anout 'n00bs' but I've worked both with Firefox and the new IE and still prefer the new IE. My husband can't believe it while he admits that I'm making a proper decision. It's just a matter of taste and feeling comfortable after all. And many times I've used Firefox something awful has happened.

Nope, a fact. IE doesn't block any ads in it's default form. Easy to confirm and you know I'm right. Ice |
